I know it's only a glimpse.
I know it's just part of a game.
I know others can run off him.
I know the Tigers were undermanned
I know very tall ruckmen take a while to develop.
I know a swallow does not a summer make
I know I nearly signed on as Witts Price Tully
But, it does warm my footy soul to see his development & progression.
Thought he played pretty well on the weekend.
Makes me smile. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

He played as expected.
Witts and Grundy will be our ruck team for years to come. There will be times when one or other does less than we would wish and they are both just puppies in footballing terms, but these two, in combination with our excellent on-ball brigade, will only get better and better. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Witts tap to Beamsy in the first was great, also his second efforts for a big bloke were very impressive. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

I too thought this was a very good game from Witts.
I also think there is still a huge upside in that :
1. Still has a maturing footy brain
2. Still "growing into" his body
3. Still developing a tank
4. Has not been able ton string "back to back to back" games at AFL level. When he does, and when he starts clunking some big marks consistently he will be a powerfull weapon. _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"

He just needs to repeat to himself over and over and over the following mantra:
I am the next Sandilands (without the injuries), I am the next Sandilands (without the injuries).....
I thought the 17 touches v 4 touches spoke volumes about the impact on the game around the ground compared with our 19 year old No.1 ruckman (incidentally Grundy's 24 hitouts v 10 hitouts looks impressive too). Not that I'm bagging Brodie... just saying anyone who thought Witts didn't do much might want to at least consider that stat.
He's still young and still developing but it was a step in the right direction. _________________ Side By Side Forever |

Great game given where he's at in term of his development. Should be persisted with until at least Reid's return. Yes, that might have a cost but long term gain for short term pain. |

Hedging your bets against the "Negative Brigade" I see.
Fully agree that Witts had a good game and contributed in a number of areas.
He is very much progressing in the right direction. |

He was the chief source of our early impetus, I thought.
To use a hackneyed line he really 'willed himself on the contest' - dunno who's been abusing that one of late - probably Darcy.

Loved his game on Friday night- some greta work at the stoppages and around the ground- there was one brilliant kick to white(?) ein the second.
He does seem to play as though stoned- seems a little too relaxed- but understandable as he is picking up the pace of the game.
If he and Grundy stay injury free- I am scared to think of the possibilities |

He impressed me on Friday night. Never been hugely excited by Wittsseemed to me to be the footballing equivalent of a scary-looking, thoroughly stationary totem polebut I was really surprised by his tackling, disposal and quick decisionmaking. I'm on the bandwagon now. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |
