A bit worse than I expected (I thought 3 down to 2), but I reckon we should just suck it up and accept it..... Rolling Eyes

Yeah, I thought 3 down to 2, but can't challenge as he'll end up with the full 4 weeks.

Not sure who I'm more angry at - Rusty or the MRP. Crying or Very sad

3 weeks is about fair...got to say when I saw the incident I thought that was one of the most stupid acts i have seen of recent..WHY WHY WHY in this day in age when the AFL and clubs must drill home the point....IF YOU LEAVE THE GROUND WHEN YOU BUMP ..YOUR GOING TO GET DONE... and he did it...no excuse..he could have stayed grounded and still hit Weller and he would have gotten 1 week. Incredibly stupid act. I have no sympathy for the bloke really. But i guess his absence gives a chance to a player in the VFL. Cool

Seems a little harsh, as it wasn't a big hit, and Weller seemed fine after the game. But it was a pretty dangerous/stupid thing to do .. he left the ground which is more stupid...

Only difference you could argue is MEDIUM impact vs HIGH .. but you could argue both.

Think he has to cop it and unfortunately we will miss him for the Hawks match

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-06-02/mrp-full-statement-round-11

Steele Sidebottom, Collingwood, has been charged with a Level Four Engaging in Rough Conduct Offence (425 points, four-match sanction) for engaging in rough conduct against Maverick Weller, St Kilda, during the first quarter of the Round 11 match between St Kilda and Collingwood, played at Etihad Stadium on Friday May 30, 2014.

In summary, he can accept a three-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the St Kilda Football Club, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), high impact (three points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of seven activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Four Offence, drawing 425 demerit points and a four-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 318.75 demerit points and three-match sanction.

You leave the ground when the ball BOUNCES IN THE AIR.
Thats what it did and thats what Sidey did to get the footy.
The only thing I think he did wrong was not tuck his elbow in.

As the St Kilda coach said - both players had eyes on the footy.

The Reckless charge can be contested. Once he was in the air in pursuit of the ball what options were there left open to him once contact was going to be made that deemed his decision as reckless.

He clearly jumped because that's where he thought the ball was going, I suggest you watch the replay.

I though he would get way with three reduced to 2. Hit did not seem that hard but the player did not regain the field and that is damning in itself. With the flogging they were going to get it was probably in Wellers interests to remain injured.

4 down to 3 was always a distinct possibility and hate to say I told you so.

And while its impossible to argue with the "high contact, high impact and reckless" grading I'm sure some on here will still do that....

Bringing up Goodes getting off doesn't diminish Sidey's grading.

so Goodes jumped up at the footy in the air and made contact to the head of Selwood causing injury.
What did sidey do differently that gave him 4 and Goodes nil ?

WTF are you on? He clearly jumped because that's were he thought that was where the ball was going, I suggest you watch the replay.

Sorry man i think your seeing things.....he has left the ground as weller takes possession. Ok he try's to sort of pull out of it (to the side).. but that is no excuse...you dont try to take possession of the ball flying side on to the play. Sidey had no other intention then to make contact with the player.....he has to wear blame for this one. We need him for the Hawks game and he has let the team down.
