Hi All,

If it's been posted, I haven't seen it so apologies if this post is redundant but Ben Hart surely deserves acknowledgment for how he's got the backline going. In his 3rd year with us, and lately working with a bunch of kids, he's really got these guys years ahead of where they probably should be especially considering some of the late draft picks he's had to work with.

Bravo!

I agree and I reckon Langdon plays just like him

Terrific job, to keep the deeees toffs to just 3 snags was great. Harvey is doing well too, with the mids, dunno bout Lappin, id love someone like Brent Harvey in that forward line coach spot, when he retires.

Lappin cops a lot on here but I dunno how warranted it is cos I'm not privy to the inner sanctum. His only obvious crime is being an ex-scum player. We've got Pebbles down there too so surely he has some input into our forward structures.

While your at it :

Dale Tapping is really challenging the listed/unlisted players development AND providing a "winning culture" at VFL level.

Craig Mcrae as the development manager certainly deserves some credit with our depth of quality youth ( along with Hine and co)

And I think Steve Grace cannot be underestimated in what he has brought to the club. Very well regarded, a big part of Freo list development and a great pick up for our kids.

Yes, the club has made some fantastic decisions in getting quality people to the club headed up by Bucks who is only a premiership away from being the perfect coach.

It's hard for us outsiders to judge who is doing great at their coaching. These days it's a collective effort. All we know for sure, is that our football department - coaches, recruiters and fitness people - are doing a fantastic job with our team, especially developing our younger players.

Things are purring along nicely on field and off, as united, focused, well led clubs do.

Nah, Rocket Eade said he'd buy the players coffee if they held their opponents to lowest score of the round.
He deserves the credit!

Agree with the view about Hart. Helps when the mids get back but he's got some confidence instilled in a young defence.

Exactly. These blokes are usually on one year contracts (I think), so if Bucks, or the leadership group, didn't rate him, he would be gone by now.

It was the main area we needed to tighten up on from last year. It was awful the number of times we allowed easy goals with little pressure last season, whether from uncontested marks or goal square walkthroughs after getting over the top of our zone (we were allowing the most in the comp at one stage). This year has seen a major improvement in our defensive efforts all over the field, not just in defense.

Good thread this one - I add to the round of applause. To have a bunch of kids playing as well as they are is a real pat on the back to the coaching staff in general.

The real test for the back six comes against the Hawks. Our real "problem team".

We might not beat them, but we can be hoping they can keep the Hawks to a low score, that will be as good as a win. Correct me if i am wrong but our last four to five games against the Hawks have been 50+ point blow outs?

The emergence of Frost, Langdon, Williams and Keeffe in this and recent seasons has just been fantastic for the team and a mighty effort not just by the players but the people who spotted them, recruited them, trained them, developed them and coached them.
