Cos that is exactly what we have to tolerate. People talk about the unbalanced draw, well pluck me drunk playing at Etihad was a big reason why we lost. Shirthole of the highest order and unsuited to our game.

Because we're contractually obligated to play 4 games a season there.

We should play 4 away games there. It's not our fault that we draw crowds and have to play some of the tenants of that shithole at the MCG. St Kilda, Dogs, Norf should always be away games there. Interstate teams where it's a neutral venue I could stomach being home games, but not a home game against a tenant club.

But T, what i don't understand: is Telstra Dump playing surface the exact same dimensions as the MCG or not? I can't recall?
If it is, then why do we struggle there against shit-kicker teams?

OH , eyes still rolling in my head from that shit effort i witnessed.

^This. There is no good reason for us to be playing home games at Etihad if we are playing Norf/Saints/Dogs. Make them away games and give us 1 home game vs an interstate side there. The G is our home, and this bull rap fixturing needs to stop.

Geez I envy the EPL sides and supporters. They get to watch an even number of matches against their opponents, home and away. They are guaranteed the same number of home games every year. Manchester United members know when they have their membership they are guaranteed half the season will be played at Old Trafford. No wonder every single game is a sellout (75,000). Every single game!

I think we are quickly discovering that the AFL is a joke competition run purely for the marketing geniuses who think they can milk us as cash cows. I for one won't be going to any games live soon, and you can forget about a membership next year. And by the look of the crowd today I am not Robinson Crusoe.

The fixture and the lack of real home ground is a pox this game can no longer afford. God how I envy Port Adelaide and the Crows. Confused

Could just as easily be WCEs, Freo, GWS, GCS, Swans, Crows, Port, Dees or Richmond. Ridiculous that we play our home game at the home ground of the opposition.

PS: had nothing to do with our lose, we were just outplayed.

It's not.

MCG - 173.6 x 148.4m

Eithad - 159.5 x 128.8m

^^Cool. Can someone also post a rant about there being no standard ground size? Just another thing that makes the AFL a joke of a competition. Beats talking about the Pies for the time being anyway Wink.

Been asking for years why we keep playing the Bulldogs at their home ground as our home game?........ Still scratching my head.

One more question. We play gold coast once again this season. How come it is again at their home ground & not ours?

I guess because they want one home game a year where people actually come along to watch?

You can't be serious, ANNODAM, the only reason the AFL and the fixture is a joke? There are so many others. The whole comp is operated like a local under 9s compared to overseas premiere competitions.

It sucks ... but:

We play Geelong at the MCG when it's a Geelong home game
Carlton and Essendon at the MCG when it's a Blues/Dons home game.

Can't have it both ways.

But I have said it before and I'll say it again ... the impartial nature of the MCG and ES makes the fan experience pointless nowadays. What I wouldn't give to redevlop Vic Park to a 50K+ stadium and play our home games there.

I for one agreed with North Melbourne that home teams should not play the opposition team songs, etc. It should be an intimidating place to venture. It should be a HOME GROUND. Having been overseas and watched many sports with their 'homer' fans and home court/ground advantage and experiences ... its another [AWESOME] world. Many of you have NO IDEA what we miss out on having 10 teams in one state and no real home ground.

What do I get out of attending a home game vs an away game? Nothing. The same generic big screen action, the same generic entrance music, it's a joke.

Maybe not in my lifetime, but surel.y enough, the world game will become the number one football code in this country cos our game is run by clueless bogans.
