Even if minor we can afford to give WHE some time to get his hamstring right properly and come back in week 14 against the Roos, or we could leave him until round 16 after the June bye.
Hopefully no other surprise injuries or MRO findings this week and we start getting more players back to rebuild the healthy list. _________________ Premiership Pies made it legendary in 2023, don’t let them forget it. #Go PIES 2024…. |

I'm worried about the health of Elliott.
We are told he has a vascular problem, which is rather vague, and there is no indication of when he may be fit to play again. When asked about him in his presser, Fly was unable to provide any more clarity on Elliott's health. |

It is concerning considering his history of back issues. Time to ask Schultz to step into that role. _________________ Chuffed to have seen 3 flag wins in my lifetime but still greedy for more. |

Collingwood wishes to advise a Club Injury and Health update ahead of the Club’s Round 11 match against Walyalup (Fremantle).
TO BE ASSESSED THIS WEEK:
Jordan De Goey will be assessed to determine his availability for Collingwood’s Round 11 match against Fremantle this Friday after experiencing awareness in his groin during Saturday’s game against Adelaide. The 28-year-old has also been assessed and cleared of any delayed concussion symptoms following a collision in the final term of Saturday’s match.
Beau McCreery will be assessed ahead of Friday night’s match having worked his way through the concussion protocols.
The 25-year-old who sustained a concussion in Round Eight, will need to get through a full week of training this week to be available for the game against Fremantle.
Forward Brody Mihocek will be accessed ahead of Friday’s game against Fremantle.
Having sustained a hamstring injury in Round Eight, the 31-year-old will need to get through a full week of training this week to be available for selection.
**********
Following surgical reviews after suffering a knee injury during Collingwood’s Round Seven VFL match, the Club confirms Aiden Begg will be sidelined for the remainder of the season with a minor PCL injury. The 21-year-old has been cleared of any ACL damage. The Club is in the process of moving him onto the Inactive List.
Having sustained a concussion during Collingwood’s Round Nine match, Jack Bytel will be unavailable for Friday’s game against Fremantle as he continues to work through the concussion protocols.
Josh Carmichael continues to work through the AFL’s concussion protocols.
Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott will continue to spend some time on a modified training program as he manages a minor vascular issue. The 31-year-old has been in consultation with vascular specialists and he has seen improvements in his conditioning work. Elliott is expected to return between Rounds 13-16.
Josh Eyre is progressing through his hamstring rehabilitation and will start increasing his training loads. The 21-year-old is working towards a return in Rounds 13-14.
Will Hoskin-Elliott will spend some time on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury during Saturday’s game. Scans have confirmed a minor strain to his hamstring. The 30-year-old is expected to return in Round 13 for the Pies’ King’s Birthday match.
Jeremy Howe is progressing well from is minor groin strain sustained in Round 9. The 33-year-old is expected to return in Rounds 12-13.
Forward Reef McInnes has entered the concussion protocols after suffering a head knock during the third quarter of Saturday’s game.
Dan McStay is continuing through his ACL rehabilitation and has started contact training away from the main group.
Tom Mitchell will continue to rehabilitate the planta facia issue he has been dealing with and will be unavailable for this week’s match. The 30-year-old’s injury has not improved enough to be available for match play and is expected to be available for Rounds 13-16.
Oscar Steene is progressing well in his rehabilitation for a toe injury.Steene’s return is expected in Round 18+.

Thank you Mr Laurie Holden.
I assume that De Goey will play- might be playing out of the goal square again this week.
Looks like Howe, Elliott, Mitchell and Hoskin-Elliott will be available around King's Birthday.
With Begg on the 'Inactive List' I think we will have at least one pick in the Mid-season draft, perhaps two if McStay is out for the year. Begg should have any surgery needed done straight away so he is right for day one of pre-season. A solid time in the gym is required for him and Steene to be physically right for 2025.
I think a lot will be expected of Eyre post his return- he will need to show his wares at VFL level as a key back. _________________ Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away... |

Looks as though we’re going to be treading water with our injuries until the bye round. We have games against the Dockers, Dogs, Dees ( without Lever ) and Kangas before the bye round. Realistically, three out of four wins would be a great result but we’re going to need two wins as a minimum in the coming month. |

The AFL website has JDG out with groin awareness. I'm gutted. We needed him against the Crows, without a doubt.
With WHE and McInnes going down, we'' be desperate for Beau and Checkers to come back. Just hope JDG's setback is not longer term now and the same for Checkers, we don't want him coming back early and redoing the hamstring.
Have no idea what we'd do with a forward line including Krueger and Johnson. Did you see any of the Eagles smashing the Dees. So much space on the Optus ground to do so much damage, and quickly.

Surely we can't risk JDG or Checkers (if there's any doubt on his fitness) at this stage of the season. We'll need them firing come September. Better to risk losing a game now than to risk longer term injuries to such crucial players. |

Thanks Laurie! It certainly makes for difficult reading.
So we're looking at these availabilities:
Round 11 vs Fremantle: Mihocek, McCreery, De Goey (all maybes)
Round 12 vs Western Bulldogs: all of the above + McInnes, Bytel (both likely), Howe, Carmichael (maybes)
Round 13 vs Melbourne: all of the above + Hoskin-Elliott (likely), Eyre (maybe), Mitchell, Elliott (more long shots)
If we can have all of Mihocek, McCreery, De Goey, Howe and Hoskin-Elliott back on the park by King's Birthday and Mitchell and Elliott either available or not too far off, then things will be looking a bit less dire. Let's just hope there are no setbacks or further injuries in the meantime. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Apparently Jiath limped off at training, too. At this stage we might be close to having no listed players in the VFL this weekend! _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |
