Collingwood should never play at Etihad. Where it should play instead is a whole different question. But I don't really think that moving a game from a ground I walk to from home or my office in 10 minutes to a ground I need a plane to reach is going to improve the value of my membership.

At the end of the day it's an away game. If they want to play us on the moon it's going to be their call, not ours.

I went to the game yesterday in Wellington and was lamenting the low attendance - 13,000 or near enough. So far the Saints have lost em both, so not much incentive for the locals.

First time around they got 22,000 because lots came from sydney.

The local paper rightly said that the AFL have some work to do if its going to succeed. However there is good local support and sentiment for it. People love the spectacle.

As for the Pies coming over, please God let it happen! But I reckon as someone else said, the numbers wont justify it.

It's a shame, because as others have said, its a great city & venue.

Not a chance in hell. Etihad is a great stadium, why would I rather travel (or more likely not travel and only see the game on TV) all the way to New Zealand? Madness.

Only you elite Legends members could afford it anyway.

Your average Collingwood fan couldn't.

Pass.

St Vomit should play Norf in New Zealand. Every week. With no TV broadcast allowed.

New Zealand, yes, but only until we can get visas organised for them to play games each week in Siberia.

I'm still scratching my head why the NZ national anthem was played.

Never been done before.

Never should be done again.

Might have something to do with the NZ in ANZAC. Not sure though.

I reckon that's a pretty fair guess. They also played the NZ national Anthem at the service I went to at my local RSL on ANZAC day morning.

This is Australia and we're playing an Australian born and bred game the kiwi's don't give a crap about.

Let the rugby states if they like or better yet New Zealand honor there war dead in there own country.

It was plain odd to me even more so given we've been playing this fixture since 1995.

This smacks of pure tokenism to me from the AFL simply because we are looking to break into the New Zealand market.

You missed what I said above, they played the NZ Anthem at my local RSL service as well, and I don't think that Watsonia RSL is trying to break into the NZ market.

As far as the Australian game, they were performing a proper commemorative service including the last post and there are guidelines to be followed on that no matter where in Australia you are.

What's changed?

The AFL trying to break into the NZ market.

I guess it's not a huge trip (about as far as Perth), but I don't think it'd be a great idea. Watched a bit of the Saints–Brisbane match and the crowd and atmosphere were woeful. Perhaps as a once-off, but even then I'm not so keen.

If we're going to play a once-off game at an unusual venue in front of a small crowd, why not Victoria Park? Now that I could get behind.
