This should've been done 3 weeks ago. Not sure we have anyone that qualifies as 'LTI' atm. So what other options are there, if any?

For those that want him in. What do you see him providing?

Having seen a few VFL games and his AFL appearances: as a small forward, he looks like Blair with better finishing, less defensive pressure and with not quite the same ability to win the hard ball.

At AFL level I can't see him being anything but a forward that gets on the end of it. He doesn't have the pace, agility, creativity or marking power to create his own goals. Blair is much the same, but does create goals with his pressure. If Martin could do everything that Blair does whilst being a much better finisher, I'd have him in the team. Clearly he can't though, or I'm sure the selectors would have already picked him and he'd have been upgraded to the senior list last year.

For mine, if we're replacing Blair we need to replace him with a type that is going to give us something different. Blair is a great pressure player. If that's what we want, then he's in the team. If we were looking to replace him, we should be looking for someone that can make our team better by giving us something we don't have much of, and that's skill and creativity around goal. Players that can create, not just finish. At the moment, we have Elliott and that's about it. Someone like Fasolo, Karnezis or Kennedy would have to be preferred over Martin.

We have two players on our senior list that shouldn't be there ahead of Martin IMHO and that's Clarke and Armstrong.

Fake an injury if we have to, pay them out and upgrade Martin.

Blair has kicked 3 goals this season
martin will kick more goals and be a far
better midfielder and a better defensive runner.
blair is a better tackler
yes a forward who has good tackling skills will get a spot
oh yes how many goals did we kick last week
oh yes it was 7!
Martin is a far better kick than elliot

Someone hide in the bushes with a baseball bat outside Armstrongs house. I hear kneecaps take a long time to heal...

Why do these threads always turn into a "run down my least liked player" thread. I agree, players like Armstrong and Clarke aren't doing enough to force their way into the senior team but seriously... it's almost as if we've been overrun with Richmond supporters.

I agree with many criticisms of the limitations of Martin, in terms of the type of player we need. However, sometimes one needs to ignore the stats about height, pace, kicks etc and examine a players actual output. Clearly this kid can kick goals. Right now our forward line is struggling to do that. For all the pressure which Blair applies up forward, if it's not leading to goals then it's irrelevant imo. I'd like Martin to get promoted and given a chance to prove he has a place in the seniors.

I don't think there are many (if any) saying they don't want him promoted and given a senior opportunity. Just a few of us asking "how?" and "who's spot in the senior team?".

And my main beef is that running down player A, B or C doesn't make it any more likely to occur. Armstrong and Clarke seem to be the main whipping boys. Throw in Blair and you've got the A,B & C Laughing
