So, we're accepting the premise without question? I don't buy it. I wouldn't say our forward line is sparkling, but it's not failing, it's not being given a chance to fail. Where we are failing is up the field. Clearances and ball movement from defense. These have been so poor the last two games, the forwards never had a chance.

with the first two entries being an exception. On those, we kicked two goals. So no, I don't accept that our forward line is failing.

Yes if we clean up transition from the backline it is worth 4 goals a game. The turnovers are killing us from the backline.

On the forward line, I think Reid and Karnezis may be useful over this year so we will have more options as the year progresses.

Can't argue with this. Populate the forward line with actual forwards who can all potentially be a bit dangerous

Our forward line has performed really well given the quiet returns from White and Cloke this year thus far. They have been very efficient at scoring from forward entries. In most games they just seemed very dangerous when the ball is up there.

As mentioned by AN-inkling it is in the clearances up the field and subsequent low entries that is letting us down. I think by retreating too far back in our structure we make it less likely to get the ball deep into our forward line also.

THis is true, and I like the setup of the proposed forward line.

However, what we have to factor in is that players like Swan, Sidebottom and Blair are all spending substantial time up forward as well. With capped rotations, it means we see a lot more mids and ruckmen resting up forward as opposed to going off.

That means that realistically you need your small forwards to be able to rotate on the ball from time to time.

Elliott is showing a capacity to do this, whilst I know we have long term plans for Fasolo as well.

Port Adelaide are doing it well at the moment because Gray, Wingard and Monfries all get a lot of the footy through the middle as well.

Geelong also do it with Bartel, Johnson, Stokes and Motlop.

Hawthorn are the exception to the rule because they are loaded up with flankers and talls. Their midfield is actually pretty thin.

Interesting times ahead.
