Perfect Sub I reckon. Swingman who can play midfield, forward and at a real pinch, maybe defence. Rolling Eyes

I agree that Faz has the skill and experience to be in our best 22 where his depth of kicking is exactly what the club has been chasing in the likes of Young, Russell and Armstrong.
If Faz can get fit and firing he can provide the x-factor we lack to the half forward line as a replacement for Didak.
I expect by the end of this year we will be seeing Fax vs Elliot for the forward line specialist small. Both hav every similar skills sets i.e. Neither are special crumbers but both are good marks for their size. Both lack tank to go into the midfield. Elliot is a better mark and tackler whereas Fax is a better kick. Blair is the grunt factor that adds to forward line pressure but he is going to be fighting for a spot in the team with Adams and Beams.
Goldsack is the one that falls behind the pack imo. He may have to fight with Maxwell for the 3rd tall defender role.

Fas doesnt play the same role as Elliot.

Fas plays the mid forward role where Elliot plays the Small forward who is also a very good mark.

Personally I think Fas can be used across the half forward flank.

My forward line setup would be

Elliot Cloke Blair
Fasolo Reid Sidebottom

Watched the Richmond game and got to confess Fas surprised, particularly when you factor in the Richmond midfield domination and the amount of time the ball spent in their forward 50. Did get beaten in a few 1x1 contests and leaked a few goals but that performance at least showed he could become a handy defender.

How would you rate him next to Corey Gault??

LOL... watched young Corey a fair bit and don't think he's got a defensive bone in his body, tries hard but unless there is a massive transformation in his game and his mindset he just won't make it as a defender. Will be interesting to see where he ends up playing in the VFL this season.

... and I did say could, not will.

I don't see Faz as a backman to be honest. See him HFF, Wing -and if not for the depth of our center mids he could play well in the guts.

Good to get a game under his belt, the kid also has the self confidence to take the game on and not be intimidated so expecting him to settle back into it relatively quickly.

Competition for slots on the forward line are indeed tight but Faz is quality and will get his chance.

That's been my thinking, just thought I should acknowledge what people have been hypothersising about Fas in defence and that he showed that he has some potential and his disposal was very good.

Me either. Was played out of position in my opinion.

Great mark. Great kick for goal. Let's put him in defence.
Ludicrous.

Reid. Great mark. Great kick for goal. Coach criticised for playing him in the forward line. Ludicrous criticism all right. Rolling Eyes

Yep, with a backline utterly devoid of class by foot, how dare people suggest putting good users of the ball in the backline in order to generate meaningful rebound...

My main concern with Faz in the back line is that I don't think he has the speed or the tank and if he gets isolated he could be in real trouble. He certainly has the foot skills.
