Bad luck for Reid. Potentially is the difference between a shot at the flag and just making the finals this year.

Let's hope he does a Beams. Missed 15 games or so last year but still had an impact in the last 2 months.

If all goes to plan we should have Reid and last years prime DPs available around the same time.

Assuming we win tomorrow, we sit equal second behind Port, Hawthorn and Sydney. Who thought we'd be in this position? Not many of us. Ben Reid will be the icing on the cake as we enter the race for the finals. We want to be there and hopefully win a final or two. Ben Reid makes Collingwood a stronger bet.

Next year is the year an injured Ben Reid would really hurt us. Next year is when we can mount a serious challenge. This is a development year and it is going better than most of us thought.

Having said that, if Ben Reid were a horse we'd shoot him.

If we get him back fully match fit before finals and don't lose anyone else, we can win it this year IMO, If that happens and Trav finds form we can do it.

I got to have a brief chat to Craig McRae and Dale Tapping last night and they were adamant it's not a recurrence of the calf injury, just a quad.

They also said Broomy only played 2 quarters in the VFl just in case there's a late out. Said that Marsh's progress has taken everyone by surprise and they're certain he'll make it. And Freeman is just about ready to go.

I know it's not much but at least it came straight from the horse's mouth so to speak.

Marsh has 'freak' athletic attributes- if he gets it together skills-wise he could be a real find for next year.

Reid= icing on the cake! for sure.

Great news on Freeman- hoping he can play at least three or four games before finals.

We are grooming some good outside run once again.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-06-17/long-layoff-likely-for-reid

Just an update. The bottom line is that Doc Larkins thinks it may be a 6 week injury, given Reid's history, and that means he would be available for senior selection in Round 20.

Larkins is a fool and always assumes thr worst of any injury just to hype up the news. An absolute show pony just like razor ray. Even though Collingwood aren't all that transparent when it comes to injuries, I'm more inclined to believe them rather than that muppet.

After Buckley said in his Round 1 post match presser that if he had a few extra days Ben Reid (and 1 other player as well can't remember who) would have been right to go, I wont believe anything the club says on injuries until they players are named and are on the park.

Larkins is no fool and to pinch one of Dennis Cometti's sayings would venture to say Larkins will be closer to the mark than the 2-3 weeks Eade came up with.
