Having the pleasure of having a Chicken Parmy on Monday before training at the club, I must say George will be missed...........maybe we can start a " SAVE GEORGE " thread.

What about parking Tess?......Is it true that there will be parking underneath?

Spotlight!

How long have we signed up for? Why are we increasing the value of this company at the expense of ourselves? The food they serve is shocking and overpriced. Surely we could have come up with something better.

Did we even look at anyone else? Or was it deal done by people feathering their own nests. What other links do the people who negotiated this deal have with Spotlight?

I thought the idea was to offer an alternative to what was on offer at the Gee. Not a copy. What's the point of walking over to Olympic park if they are just going to serve the same crap as you get at the Gee.

The people who run the pubs around Richmond will be happy to hear this, because if the announcement of the catering company is any indication, they will have nothing to fear from Collingwood moving to Olympic Park, as I am not going to be bothered going out of my way to enrich Spotless Catering.

Way not to do it Collingwood.

You may find that we weren't the only party that negotiated the deal. For example, the VIS are involved so they come into it. Moreover, Spotlight are probably a more financially viable alternative.

Im surprised at this thread and some of the negativity.

I havent seen Ed involved in too many shabby deals - or deals that produce shabby results.

We elect the board to manage our best interests, its unrealistic to be across all the issues / benefits as members at this stage. U dont get the micro bits .... jus high level stuff.

Wonders why there is concern or lack of faith in those driving our success ?

I think it will be a great showcase for the Collingwood football club.
The exposure at all times of the year will be a plus for our club.
I hope the outside will be finished when the Australian Open Tennis is on in January, so our club will get loads of advertising encouraging people to become members.

firstly i should say I have no doubt about the passion for our club, I know thru reading your posts over a long time ...theres definitly passion.

And being interested and asking for details on the development is probably fair and reasonable .... even understandable. No i dont support blind faith ... but maybe that needs to be differentiated ... to something called trusting the club to manage our business.

Its not blind faith because they are held accountable at the AGM each year and on re elections.

The only other bit id like to add is that this kind of deal which is pretty large contains alot of commercial in confidence stuff, and so many things arent released until the latest posssible stage. Some deals are probably not finalised until the last months anyhows. Many reasons for that also.

The pies have been the leaders of rewarding there fan base since Eddie took over.

Perhaps small items - all aimed at the fans (since eddies regime):
free memberships caps each and every year
free VFL entry for Willi
Free entertainment - we've had bands playing on and off at Home games
Free T's and footys hurled (shot) into the crowds at our home games
Not 1 but 3 mascots for pies kids to have fun with
Free movie showing the other week - for captais and legends
lots of discount offers
lots and lots of stuff that are provided as 'value adds' for us the members / supporters

Why do i raise these ?
Look at the kangas this year - they are offering free caps to members ( laidleys influence ?)
Look at the tigers - new release of mascot, there 4wd cruiser with branding,

Everytime Eddie (read that to be the CFC) raise the bar in standards of satisfaction to its members, there are other clubs who will be looking to do it better ... or gain a competitve edge.

If you consider Richmond (Dyer foundation with deep pockets) to re develop the Punt road oval.
Carlton - likely to leave Optus oval - looking for the best deal it can secure at Telstra Dome / MCG
Essendon - they have slipped dramatically the last few years as the premier Vic club, they will be looknig to get that title back.

Collingwood has the chance to create something big, with additional benefits to us - members and supporters. Alot of it will be kept secret to gain / keep some advantage.

I know for fact since we leaked we would have all year round social club benefits at the G, that other clubs are demanding similar benefits.

So at the end of the day, yes agreed u probably have a right to be asking questions. But if u arent getting answers ... or mixed answers ... perhaps there are reasons ?

My faith comments werent aimed to be considered as blind faith, just trust in the man who has taken us back to a power situation on and off the field. And if he falters ...well even supremo Ed would know he's accountable to us - members and supporters.

The point is ....... he hasn't let us down yet.

Very good post Slayer.

Your quote of:

These are my thoughts too. I am sure Eddie can see a much bigger picture of just how great Collingwood willl be seen not just in Australia, but around the world!

[ps..did you go to the bad eggs screening, I was there, cheering Licca!]

F4C yep ..enjoyed it ...pretty funny movie .... Lica could have talked for longer .... say an hour or so ...we wouldnt have minded .... he was way brief. You came all the way over for it ? ...

Oh other point that seemed relevant to the topic was that Mick has publicly said one of the drivers that got him to accept the coaching job at collingwood was Eddies vision of OP.

I dont know wot all the plans are ... but they must have been impressive enough for Mick to be won over.

It took you a while Tess but you got there in the end. Well done.

Plenty of questions remain. Naming rights sponsor for one.

Answers are a bit light on.

Hang on a tic, can someone explain it to me in simple terms please. What is the problem? Do we want our Club to have the best facilities under the sun, or are we more interested in being able to get a good sandwich? Of course there'll be a 10% discount for Members, right Ed? I'm not sure, scrub that, I'm sure I don't understand the problem.

I think it is going to be great.
It is a shame that vic park wont be a part of things as most of us have been going there for decades.
As for the chicken parmas mate,i am having one today at the club.
Get them while you can.
The bistro has its reputation sold by the quality of the parma.
