Channel Nine, as usual ripping us all off...

Hey everyone,

Well Channel Nine look like doing it again. They are starting the AFL cast here in Sydney tomorrow from 1300hrs. This means that we miss out on the 'entertainment' for want of a better word prior to the match.

The AFL wants to expand into Sydney and Brisbane, but yet channel nine wont assist and cover what is the second biggest sporting event in Australia behind the Grand Final.

Would all interstaters here please post your thoughts on Channel nine and its poor coverage? Maybe if we get enough then something will be done!

They don't confine their treatment to AFL fans. They have the NRL rights and never do a live telecast. Try living in Canberra where we have the majestic buffoonery of the WIN network. The Ten network do a far better job of telecasting football. It's a pity 10 didn't get exclusive rights to AFL. We would all be better off.

Nothing we say will make any difference i'm afraid.
I bombarded the AFL with heaps of emails in 2001 and 2002 about channel 9s coverage and never received a single reply, other than a form letter. In fact the only people with the manners to actually properly respond to me were Peter Blucher of the brisbane lions and Rohan Connelly from the age.
Jacko pretended to be doing something about it but was lieing the whole time. Demitriou claimed he would do something, but has done even less than jacko(if thats possible).
While channel 9 continues to basically keep rugby league alive, nothing will ever change.
Just be thankful that channel 10 has the finals.

A few planes and helicopters and a bunch of overgrown boy scouts playing war games with a football.

Don't think ch10 are the saviours canb.
When they took the F1 rights we were promised "live" coverage. Yes, they would move or not show the sunday movie. Yes, they would show a highlights package of 30 minutes of practise/qualifying. Yes, they would show the Japanese F1 live at 4 pm.
So far, no live coverage of any F1 except the local race.

Just a note: I'm pretty sure no one is getting the pre-match stuff, it starts at 1pm in Vic, and the game starts at 1.15. You are not alone on this one TIP. BTW, I'm pretty sure they have never shown the pre-match (except for the GF).

Stuff the pre-match bullshit....besides the Sundie Footy Show is going live from the ground until 1pm...Billy Bunter is enough entertainment.

Be very grateful that the game is LIVE......Is that not what we all want.

I agree with Dr.Alf.Just think ourselves lucky that we are seeing the game LIVE at all after all Ch9 have the exclusive rights to the Thigby League,and any way who wants to see some idiots making a fool of themselves infront of millions of people when we had all this reality CRAP long ago.
