The Zimbabwe crisis
Australia confident of tour running smoothly

Despite the uncertainty in Zimbabwe and reports of a fist-fight between two high-ranking officials, Cricket Australia is confident that their upcoming tour will run smoothly. The problems in the administration of Zimbabwean cricket came to a head when several witnesses reported Ozias Bvute, one of the directors of the ZCU, to be involved in a fight with the convenor of selectors, Stephen Mangongo.

Peter Young, the spokesman for CA, said that he would not comment on the alleged fight, but was confident that Australia would have no trouble with accommodation, transport, training venues and matches during the course of their tour.

"Everything appears to be as it should be," Young said yesterday, "We are reasonably confident it will be because it all was when we went there last year, to Bulawayo, during the World Cup. There are a million and one things to talk about before any tour, but we've been assured everything will run smoothly."

The CA delegation, sent to inspect the situation earlier this year, was satisfied with security measures. Australia are scheduled to depart on May 13 for a month-long tour comprising two Tests and three one-dayers.
