Post subject: Ryan Lonie was that his best game ever | |
|
Hi think we need to give ryan some credit he did 8 tackles agaist the hawks and has 11 in two games (8th the comp) also had 28 touches and kicked a goal . Vs Adelaide i know he didnt go in hard two or three times but i belive the Hawks game was his best ever. Any thoughts _________________ from the top |

As much of a copout as it seems...i think we need to just accept that Lonie isnt ever going to go in hard, despite how suited for that kind of role he is.
The guy is a reciever, which is fine as long as he receives it enough as he uses it so well.
Not everyone can be both tough as nails, hard at the ball, a beautiful kick and give 110% every second of every game.
In short...not everyone is Nathan Buckley. |

It would have to be his best game for him at least. _________________ 2016 Player Sponsor for Travis Varcoe

The best game I can remember Ryan Lonie playing is the Anzac Day game 2001 where he blanketed Lucas and kicked 2 from CHB and his qualifying final against Port in 02.
He has had a good start to the season , and 28 touches would be a career high for him. _________________ "Are you an angry man? Are you envious? Do you get envious? I have competition in me. QF 2002 VS Port was hes best game I think, where he kicked a couple goals on the run in I think it was the second quater, but that one without an argument has been hes best since I hope he can continue at the Pies because I think he is in the top 5 best kicks in the comp!!!! _________________ PAUL MEDHURST'S #1 FAN

He is essential to us if we are to push teams this year. He can really hurt an opposition. He doesnt need 28 touches each week, but if he can average around 20 and kick a few then he is really dangerous. We have the in and unders and they are proven. Licuria, Burns, Obree will do their job, but will not hurt opposition of the score board. If Lonie can stay outside the pack, receive some feed off these guys, then we will hurt teams. Important that he keeps playing, even if he hits a poor match mid season. But im glad we saw again what he is really capable of.
Malthouse's persistence in playing him in defence has really paid off. He now has a defensive aspect to his game. We can use him on a player like Brad Green for example....a tallish midfield with the ability to play forward. Lonie has the ability to match him in the middle, yet defend in a marking contest now. Plus, he really hurts teams the other way. He can be highly effective.
Wherease when he first came into the game, his skills were still great, but he was a real softie who could mark, tackle or compete below his knees. Malthouse has agonised us by playing him in defence...but now that he has matured, his body has matured into a great size, he has the potential to become of the most effective players in the comp. _________________ There's more to life than footy.........just not much more. |

Two pearlers indeed. Scored two great goals against the Dons, and that Port match, well, it speaks for itself... |

Overrated wish he was traded.
Soft cocks that let their opponent get the ball first , when they arrive first to the footy is a disgrace, I'm of the right mind to start running again get fit and head my way down to the lexus centre for pre-season training.
I don't rate him at all, his kicking is only good on the run anyway. _________________ Up the Mighty Mags 2016. |

hope that comment comes back to bite you loki04....because you have to admit that he played well this round. If he goes on to have a good year, you'll retract that comment. _________________ There's more to life than footy.........just not much more. |
