Someone posted it on BigFooty - but I won't believe it until it's confirmed from Joe himself (so many bloody rumours...it's damned annoying!)

kristin, I too am sick of all these rumours

how easy is it to start one? begin by posting it in some message boards or bulletin boards, call talkback radio. it gets picked up by certain tabloid news services (no names mentioned...OK, the herald-sun), who treat it in all seriousness. readers ring up talk back radio for further info, post further messages. the rumours reach the player's management, who denies it, further fueling the suspicion that something is awry, and so forth.

the problem with rumours is that you don't know if it's true or not, and this uncertainty adds to expectations, anxieties and more. however, I respect people's rights to speculate.

Misiti would cost Essendon too much to keep right? Or maybe not?

Either way Essendon lose on the Misiti deal. They would lose if Misiti were to leave the club. They also lose if Misiti stays as the interest by other clubs has forced Essendon to pay Misiti more than they originally wanted. Misiti staying will force Essendon to get rid of Moorcroft and play with a short list next year.

Im also very confident that Essendon will slide a little next year and only finish about fourth or fifth. Lets face facts they barely have a ruckman and if they are relying on Alessio then they are in trouble. Hille wont develop quickly enough to be a factor.

Wellman isnt a true backman as he gets many of his possessions on the wing and is not that quick off the mark as Tarrant exposed on ANZAC Day. There one quality tall backman is Fletcher but Fletcher seems to be a bit injury proned.

There depth isnt as good as Mr Sheedy would like everyone to believe. This was evidenced by the lack of interest shown in Moorcroft and what clubs were prepared to offer for him.

Have to agree with JLC.
Essendon have backed themselves into a lose, lose situation and all I can say you reap what you sow. They tried to be smart and force Misiti into a reduced bargaining position by saying they would trade him and he said ok. OOPS! Then Collingwood said they would like to take him, then Gellong and probably others. OOPS! Now they have to pay him. DOH!

All this was after trying to cut the long term contrct they signed with Mercuri during the year.

So it's bye Hardwick, bye Moorcroft.

They will have a short list next year and some players who think they should be paid more. Contract negotiations will be very difficult from now on and Essendon will have to make some tough decisions. They will most likely have to trade players to get something for them and that is not what their tight premiership core want to see.

I wonder whether the AFL will now have a close look at the salary arrangements down at Essendon.

They only wanted to trade him if it meant early draft picks.hence their backdown on a deal with the Pies.I suspect that they may have been waiting on a deal with Wet Toast while negotiationg with Collingwood as the Toast would have given them a better draft pick than no.11.After Wet Toast knocked them back, they realised it was 11 or nothing. Then it was time to go into damage control cos if they handed Joe over for pick 11,the members would have lynched the admin. So they took their chances at trying to mend the fence between themselves and Misiti. We'll soon find out how they succeeded.
