A yes and no result from tonight.

All losses hurt, and this is no exception, but not all losses give you something to work with. It's kind of like A*mazing, when you'd run through the maze, and while you wouldn't find every key, you'd find enough to keep your team in the game.

Or something like that.

But I think the break is perfect right now. We build some momentum tonight, but important momentum - momentum of the heart and the belief. We gutsed the match out tonight, in contrast to even the WCE win, where we did it with our eyes closed, or the Carlton losses - this loss was a 2007-esque loss. That is vital, because it is our brand of footy. As Dennis Cometti said during our matches v Fremantle and Geelong on Seven last year 'this is...typical Magpie football'.

Very important, this week off, for the likes of Didak, Davis, Swan, Wakelin (the flu, someone said?), Pendlebury, Goldsack and Fraser, as well as those such as Brown, who have been great todate this season, but need a break. Not to mention Thomas, who has looked to have been out on his feet on occasions. Clokey, too, may benefit from the extra week.

It's a vital chance to reassess, and reload. Losing Rocca is just gut-wrenching, he is still the lynch-pin. Just his presence gives us structure. And what's more, it means Trav gets the second tall defender, and on it goes.

And BTW, when Fraser comes back, he should play in attack, mostly, IMO.

So whilst the draw to come is challenging, I wish people would lay off us for a tic (and by that I mean supporters) - things aren't ideal, but we've reached a sandbar in the middle of some pretty rough waters. The week off will do us good. Go Woods.

A*mazing was a pretty cool children's game show.
Taught kids to spell and sh!t in the prelim rounds, too.
