Description from AFL Trade tracker.....

Tall defender with pace (2.98sec for 20m).
Impressive at CHB for the Sandringham Dragons in 2007 TAC Cup Competition.

Height: 195.4cm
Weight: 87.4kg

Seems like a likely prospect and could be our future CHB.

Sounds Like another Quick Defender

I think it's Luke, he played with a few of young guys I know frpm East Burwood in the TAC. Kid can play whether he steps up to the next level is the question. We have a good development squad so if anyone can get him to step up we can. Is a tall backline player.

Plus he is on Rookie List so There is No Rush, He will have about 2-Years to Prove himself

from DTM's profile, seems like a good size, and rebounding quick defenders is the new craze. Keeps forwards honest that way. Even if he kicks 4 on you, you can run off him and set up the play. Best form of defense is attack.

Interesting pick from the pies. Yet again we've gone for a roughie who no one predicted. Could have had a look at Arrowsmith. We'll have to wait on more info from him before commenting

From Saintsaitional Board:

Code:
Luke Casey-Leigh-195cm, 84kg-Sandringham Dragons. Tall defender whose defensive skills are ok. Not great body on body. Kicking is average and needs to improve his awareness when he has the footy in his hands.
Pick 50 plus.

chuck in luke casey-leigh at around 53. He is an athletic type developing as a ruckman or tall forward/back. i heard their was a small piece about him in the age and it said that kreuzer was almost BOG in everygame exept for against the sandy dragons where casey-leigh was his opponent
Yes Casey-Leigh is athletic but is very scared out on the field, timid in contests and will get smashed against grown men. His best game happened to be vs Kreuzer hence the State Screening nomination, but after seeing him a few times throughout the year I am convinced that he is not good enough for AFL.
This is as good a time as any for a bump. Kreuzer has been mentioned in the Sun every day of the week, including in three different articles on Tuesday. One of them was a snippet about the only time he got beaten this year in the TAC Cup by Casey-Leigh from Sandy (and how Casey-Leigh is related to Clinton Casey and someone else).
Big Matty played up forward for the whole game against the bottom team in the TAC Cup. Up to 3/4 time he'd had one kick and that was the result of a soft free kick in front of goals. His opponent, Luke Casey-Leigh, was named as Sandringham's best player in today's paper. With all due respect to young Luke, he didn't have to do much, as you could have got away with playing a cardboard cutout on the fumbling, bumbling 200 cm''superstar'' who played like an uncoordinated, clumsy klutz.
Football First XVIII v BGS MGS 12.10 (84) defeated BGS 4.9 (33) Goals: Luke Casey-Leigh 4, Daniel Sartori 3, Tim McLardy 3, Tom Hawkins 2 Best Players: Toby Beaumont, Luke Casey-Leigh, Charles Shaw, Tom Hawkins, Oliver Lade, Nick Batten, Jack Heinz. The team had a lot to play for, having lost to Brighton Grammar by 4 points earlier in the season. Kicking against the wind in the first quarter, MGS was held scoreless. We were a bit lack lustre and things needed to change. 4.6 to a solitary point in the second quarter had us back in control, and from then on it was a steady progression until the end. Toby Beaumont dominated at CHB, reading the play well, cutting off forward thrusts by the opposition, and marking everything in sight. Luke Casey-Leigh was dangerous around goal with his opportunistic sweeps on the ball and deadly left foot. Daniel Sartori continued to be a live wire up forward, and he is a player who is very difficult to match up against. Oliver Lade and Jack Heinz both read the ball well and were courageous in their attack on the footy and their attempts to back into packs to take strong marks. Finally, Nick Batten remained steadfast at fullback. One on one, Nick is very rarely beaten. Next week, we play Caulfield Grammar at Caulfield (Caulfield Campus).
Luke Casey-Leigh (Son of former Richmond President Clinton Casey. Key defender who can also play forward. Probably best kept for the rookie draft)
Stats: 16 matches, 1 goals 4 behinds (scoring accuracy 20%), Number of times in best = 6, aveerage possessions 12.8 with kicking efficiency of 64% and handball of 79%, total hanball receivals 69, average tackles 3.4 per match, frees for 12 against 10 and average of 2.9 marks per match with 17% contested.

Sounds Like he can Play Any Where on the Field but he is Defintaly a Project Player

Geez, not a great rap from the saints board...although the good news is they did antipate he would be drafted. We have good defensive coaches so he will develop body on body. Only real concern is awareness, i feel that is something you cannot teach, although experience makes a difference. That and his footskills are not highly rated.

However, height and pace out of the backline is a huge plus
