Last night (24-1-0Cool on ABC there was a program called 'The Way We Were' Intoxication

Dale Lewis from the Sydney Swans recommends drinking beer at pre-season camps. He then goes on to say it brings the elite and the rookies down to an even keel.
He also said that drinking beer is a good culture among sports.

Well, I liked Dale as a player, But as they say "it's better the devil you know". Dale, you are a dickhead!

Edit: I don't know why the "cool" icon appears above.

He was also the one who made claims of recreational drug use amongst players at Sydney Swans after he had retired. He is a complete and utter goose!

I thought it has been established that there was some recreational drug use in the AFL?

And that shows what an absolute joke the AFL is, now it lets an established former player tell the world that alcohol is good ? What does this tell our younger players ?
Drinking is not good culture it kills and destroys families...Well done Lewis ummm your wait for it........ your an idiot!

lewis is his own man once he retries but i am surprised the afl didn't try to vet this for inappropriate content or mixed messages.

Wow I cannot believe what a bunch of teetotallers some people on this site have become. I think a lot of people have misconstrued Dale Lewis' comments. Imagine the new kids recruited in the last few seasons, from all over Australia and all walks of life, some may be out of home for the first time. And now imagine said young bloke being lumped in with AFL stars. I'd imagine there would be a lot of nervous tension. Us men are naturally very private creatures and keep up a lot of stuff locked in. A few beers can just speed up the bonding process by reducing nerves and promoting conversation. In an controlled environment it could be used as educational tool in responsible consumption of alcohol, An important life skill. Complete prohibition or shielding people away from alcohol has never worked.
I think thats what Dale was getting at.
