I know plenty of us have questioned the efforts and attitudes of the Collingwood 'cheersquad' over the years, but im afraid this has gone too far now. There actions are jeopardising the brand our club has so successfully upheld of recent years.
Are members of this group aware that when they represent our proud club that there actions and attitudes will stain the reputation of an entire entity?
I for one believe they should be made aware of the responsibility they hold in embodying our name. They can either clean there act up and be held responsible for there actions, or be scrapped of there duties at the club and be told to move on. |

I was once spat on by young blonde guy in the squad after a game last year. How can Eddie let them represent our team aswell as abuse and insult him. Who do these people think they are? |

Im a big big wrap for a Collingwood Football Club Cheersquad that will influence our team and reputation in a POSITIVE manner. And nothing BUT positive.
And as far as im concerned, this lot are proving the opposite. |

There are a lot of wonderful people in the Cheersquad. I want to see the cheersquad continue. I think Collingwood would be the poorer without a cheersquad behind the goals, but they do need to get their act together and even the C/s members themselves are saying they need to get together to discuss all this.
It's really sad that a small element ruin it for the majority, but that's always the case. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

To me, when I go to games now, it doesn't even look as though the cheer squad exists, just a few hoons using the cheersquads floggers with the peoples seats they've flogged off in their absence....
I don't see much pride, or much unity anymore. It's a shame. |

I voted "No".
I wasn't there on Sunday, but I'm well aware of the way the media grabs hold of stuff like this and has a field day with it.
In my days in the Cheer Squad I would often read stories in the Herald Sun about things that were supposed to have happened in the Cheer Squad. And I knew it was either complete crap or, at best, a grain of truth taken out of context and blown out of all proportion.
The Herald Sun report on Sunday's incident somehow implied that the incident with Eddie was somehow linked to the other alleged "incident" which we're not allowed to talk about. Although I wasn't there, I'd venture a pretty intelligent guess that they were completely separate incidents.
People love seeing Collingwood lose ... and one of the things that turns them on the most is the way we turn on each other. Supporters of all clubs do it ... but when Collingwood supporters do it the general public has a collective orgasm over it.
The Cheer Squad is an easily identifiable target. And because it tends to draw most of its membership from lower socio-economic groups it makes a very easy target for people who get their meaning of life from feeling "superior" to everyone else.
The Cheer Squad does not "smear" the Collingwood "brand" ... In the eyes of most football consumers the Collingwood "brand" is already smeared beyond repair. That's been the case since Moses was playing centre-half-forward for us against the Egypt Pharaohs. (thought you'd like that, Nuxta ) _________________ Line and Length ... Line and Length ... Thanks Dr Alf, you just brightened my day. By the way, I always thought Moses was more of a flanker and Aaron did all the hard work. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

You could be right. He was a bit of a receiver.
And he had a bad habit of telling everyone else what to do ... or at least what not to do. _________________ Line and Length ... Line and Length ... Line and Length |
