Why not ?

we should do the math, come out and offer the kid what he is worth. No dodgy behind the scenes stuff, let the kid keep his integrity and piss the blues off.

we can be damn sure the scum would do the same to us.

whatever we get left over from Rocca or Burns/Wakes we should throw it at Murph for 3-4 years.

Front load it for 09,10 then bring it back for 11,12 to give pendles and the others their gold pieces.

would love nothing more than to give Murphy a chance of becoming the player he deserves to be with a club that has respect and dignity.

He still hasnt signed, he committed quick last time, now he might be having second thoughts as to the person and player he wants to be remembered as.

100% agree. Would love the kid in black and white. Disposal is an issue, but he is the sort of player we need. Trade hard for him.

I dont believe we have a hope in hell of getting him, but it would be nice to show the bloke what its like to be treated as a person who has integrity and self respect.

Carlton will no doubt be sweetening the deal with off field offers or better yet paper bag money.

but he is the exact player we need and would no doubt help us net top4 for the next 3-5 years.

Do people have comprehension problems. This is clearly something we should do, not because we can get Murphy, simply because it will piss the blues off and show the kid he deserves better.

Yeah why not.

I figure if players are happy to use us to bump up their prices when it suits them, then we should be able to do it when it suits us.

9 times out of ten, we'll miss teh big fish, but the 10th one could make it oh so sweet.

It'd make 05 a pretty sweet draft, having 1, 2 and 5.

Remember Murphy had the choice to go to the Lions but rejected that to go to the Blues. I'd say he is pretty committed to the cause when you chose Carlton over a decent team.

I understand the theme of this topic jimbeam...but it would be a huge waste of energy

he is from melbourne so i reckon that would have had a lot to do with it too and would've known he'd be picked up by a melbourne club, albeit a shite one.

Mark Murphy is another Kouta. Still follows the Pies even though he wears the Blues jumper. Its just a job. Mark was quietly hoping Carlton went for Dale then he would be with us.

If Collingwood were to play their cards right he would be glad to walk through Lexus Centre doors.
