Post subject: Our next premiership team & gaps that need to be filledReply with quote

We are in that unfortunate position with us being a 4 to 9th side.. We will have some great wins & have some terrible losses. The competition is very even!

However we need to make some changes in the next two years & have a crack in about 3 years time.. Our list is simply not good enough!

Well here it is:

Goldsack Brown Anthony

H Shaw (c) Obrien Clarke

Pendles ????? Wellingham

Thomas Cloke Didak

Medhurst ????? Davis

Rucks: Wood Swan ?????

Inter: Bryan Lockyer ???? ?????

What we need to do:

Trade Fraser & 1st rounder for a gun midfielder (kerr) throw in Rusling or Reid if need be..

Fraser should be traded simply because we need to get a gun midfielder & he has the currency to obtain one..

We should also go hard for Prismall or Cousins who will come cheaper..

R Shaw Obree Johnson Maxwell Egan Presitigiamco should be off loaded over the next two years.. You cant get rid of them all at once I understand that, but they will NEVER be part of our premiership team.. One of them should be used to obtain another ruckman.

We need either Dawes, Reid, Macaffer or Rusling to fill the the Full forward gap.. However, the only real hope there is Dawes, the others I believe wont make the cut.

Cook, Stanley, IIles, McCarthy, Dyas, Reed (NSW kid), Barham, Dick,
toovey are our young midfield players that we have in the pipeline.

I believe McCarthy, Dyas, Reed (unknown) & dick are the only ones with a future.

SO I believe we are not that far off a flag, our backline looks awesome, but a full forward & our midfield need some working on big time!!!

Make the tough decisions & the flag will come shortly!

The usual panic-stricken nonsense that comes out after a loss. You'd look good in a St Kilda jumper.

There is nothing wrong with this thread, we do need to fill gaps to win a premiership. I dont know where the players we need are going to come from but it would be harsh to say O'Bree wont be there because he has been our most consistent over the past decade. He also works tirelessly. The answer to this question is definately to draft extremely well in the next two years, use players such as Egan to get more draft picks and see how we go from there. Hine seems to have a great eye for talent so even if we go get 3rd or 4th rounders id back him to find us something useful. The secret is turning over enough players on your list to find the right mix of players. Sheedy was the master at it...

No trades, we can find gun midfielders in the draft.

If we do any trades it should be for picks or an undervalued player.

We'll have to pay overs (to use a betting term) for Kerr, Prismall, Warnock they have too much press on them by now.

We won't trade Egan either, he hasn't reached his potential so we will get unders. Someone said it not long ago I think it was Tannin, trading is a business and some of you guys need to learn more about it.

Your joking about Egan right? Potential? Be careful how you use that word... see Billy Morrison. For starters, with all the hype about our so called "Fantastic Four" where does Egan fit? To many BETTER players like him. Not a midfielder to go along with no football brain.
Trade! No point wasting time with these sorts of players when we can have a chance to see someone else out there.

Trade for what? Pick 76?

Anyway he's been in excellent for lately in the VFL, I don't think he'll be traded because he hasn't reached his full potential (which I guess is a matter of opinion).

Plenty of players on our list who many might've said didn't have potential but went on to succeed.

i get very frustrated during the trading period because although we are linked to this player or that player we just don't get them.
the last big name we got was Nathan Buckley...
and even then we were salivating at the prospect and there was no guarantee we would get him.

we may just have to develop our kids and be patient.

If it were pick 76 so be it, at least we can look at someone else rather then knowing what we will get with Egan.

Well why wasn't there any threads about what we need to do to win premierships then?? There's no such thing as getting in player A = better chance at winning premiership, see Freo and Tarrant, Melbourne and Pickett, Richmond and Brown etc etc etc

Mate 1 out of a hundred doesnt change much. You tell me one place that Egan can play on the field where we dont already have a better player? Even with this so called potential you speak about....
