Leigh Brown deserves massive respect for his efforts this year. He played almost every game and after a shaky start, he proved to be an important contributor.
However, I cant really see him playing much of a prt next year. Will Jolly in and at least one of Fraser or Wood in the team, there is unlikely to be the need for him to play that pinch hitting role in the ruck. Also, you would epect Brown and/or Reid to step into the backline to fill his role. Should be a handy back-up but it is hard to see him playing more than 6 games next year unless we are cruelled by injury...
Thanks for the memories Leroy, |

Yeah he won me over. Might struggle to keep his place when I kids start firing though - and that's a good thing. |

leigh brown will find he's spot in the seniors. who else are we gonna say goodbye to this early on? tad harsh, the season hasn't even began.
*had a thought, could put fraser up in the forward, rest jolly on the bench for a bit(if and when he needs it), have brown play in the ruck around the ground and we also have cameron wood as well 3 and a bit ruckmen _________________ Jarrod Molloy

He'll hold his spot until the kids that are intended to replace him can show his level of committment out on the field. He is an excellent role model to have around the club at the moment. _________________ "Only the weak believe that what they do in battle is who they are as men" - Thomas Marshall - "Ironclad". |

No doubt that N.Brown is our second best tall defender, and will be our number 1 and a 22 game player next year, when I expect Presti will have retired. The thing is, there aren't too many teams that require two genuine tall defenders, so Leigh's bit-part defence becomes good enough. Expect it will be horses for courses, Leigh and Nathan will both play a significant number of games. Who ends up getting the nod towards the end of the season will depend on fitness and form.
I think we will do all we can to play Nathan next year, as he will likely be required full time in 2011. He was a regular in our team even this year (he did still play 14 games at 20yo; people act as if he barely got one), until injury and Leigh's improved form. Towelled up Roughead in his last game. Will provide some pressure on Presti to maintain form and fitness too. See Nath as very much in the Presti mold, just quicker, more mobile and a more skillful user of the ball. Can't understand how any Collingwood fan could have questions over Nathan. He's coming along very nicely, and has, before the age of 21, already played 37 games as a key defender. Was never a chance to be traded for Ball.
Leigh will still be required, for the main reason he was this year - mongrel - we don't have a lot of it, but Leigh does, which is why he became a regular in '09 and will still play a significant number of games in '10. Forward, back and second or third ruck are all options. _________________ Well done boys! |

I think we will need Leroy while we have so many kids in our team. There needs to be one tough guy to discourage thuggy teams like Hawthorn from intimidating our kids. I worry about Leroy's skills, but his courage and vigour are beyond question. _________________ Born and raised in Black and White |

Along with Jolly you can't underestimate the intimidation factor with their size and strength. _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |
