Collingwoods final training session for the week proved a grueling one with players undergoing 300-metre sprint time trials before heading down to Goschs Paddock to work on drills for over two hours.

With just a month remaining before the NAB Cup competition commences, the team is in the process of fine-tuning its 2010 on-field structure.

A 300-metre sprint time trial kicked off proceedings with the clubs conditioning staff timing small groups of players completing five sets of sprints around Olympic Park.

Magpie defender Harry OBrien was a standout, setting the pace for his teammates during the morning testing.

Once the running was completed, the group moved down to Goschs Paddock where they were greeted by a healthy number of Collingwood diehards, eager to see the boys in action.

A strong warm-up was followed by a midfield workout with the group separating into three teams working the ball through the centre of the ground.

Alan Didak directed traffic with both sides of his body while Heath Shaw and Tarkyn Lockyer provided vocal support to their younger teammates.

The session quickly moved to contact drills with assistant coach Mark Neeld overseeing players wearing tackle pads while trying to prevent movement of the ball in tight passages.

Another full ground drill followed with Sharrod Wellingham using the ball with precision by foot, setting up Sean Rusling, who was playing deep inside the forward 50, on more than one occasion.

The lengthy session ended with players working in smaller positional groups under specific guidance by the assistant coaches.

The group ended the day with a core and weights session back inside the Lexus Centre.

Good to see Rusling is in Full Training

Check out the Caff running next to Cloke & Corrie around the athletics track.
The guy is a man mountain. He seriously is built like a tank.

do you think the AFL would give us a clearance to let rusling wear one of those padded outfits during a game?

Caff has a freak body. Someone who can physically stop the likes of Paul Chapman ( who continually seems to produce against us, mainly due to his size/power/strength).

Cloke looks back to his Physical best of '07' and without all the other personal mental distractions, will be a force again.

Ruz looks set for a big season. MM will give him every oppotunity - hopefully as a forward as he is a very accurate kick and a strong mark(both of which we need badly up forward).

Harry is just burning at the minute! I think he will move up a level to be amongst the competitions absolute best defenders this year.

I tended to forget in fact minimize the issues Harry had to deal with during '09 - with the suicide of his step father (which was noted in "Side by Side") .
He put in a big year last year & hopefully with that not being as strong a factor this year - Harry will be having a ripper this year.

Mate, i believe he has been up there with the best the last 2 years.

Just no-one in te media have noticed. I thought 2 years go when Dale Morris got in the AA side, Harry should be in there to.

Nothing against Dale Morris his a good player, however for a simular type Harry has him covered and Harry is 5 years younger.

I am seriously delighted to see so many of our boys looking really chiselled at last.

Wonder if that's the influence and inspiration of this man. Very Happy
