Hi Guys,

I was reading about the great year that Pendles had this year on the CFC website and the thought occurred to me that he has achieved a great deal for someone so young.

One of the great things about winning the premiership is that it invites comparisons with the greats of the game. I remember reading an article at the time that asked if anyone had achieved as much as Chris Judd had in his first 100 games.

In his first 100 games, Judd had won the Brownlow, Norm Smith, a B&F, was named captain and played off in a GF.

By his 102nd game Pendles had won a Norm Smith, placed top 5 in Brownlow, was named vice-captain and was a premiership player.

The Brownlow and B&F probably place Judd ahead of Pendles, but Scott did win a premiership 2 games outside of 100. Judd would win his premiership 20 odd games later.

Here are their stats at the same age (22):

http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?tid1=4&pid1=109&tid2=5&pid2=1611&type=A&fid1=O&fid2=O

In summary, I think we have something special in the number 10. Will go down as a Collingwood immortal by the time his career is over. I would love for Pendles to tie for the Copeland this year (Swan equally deserving) just to cap off what has been a remarkable 102 games.

Well done Scott Pendlebury!

The great thing is Pendles doesn't rely on speed which will server him well later in his career

2 very different players so stats don't really tell the full tale. Judd is more the burst from the pack and flashy stuff, whereas Pendlebury the polish and the person who gets it fed out from the stoppages.

Realistically for us its more Swan v Judd. If you combine a burst player with a finisher it is an almighty combination. The top sides have it. You also need the really good in and under to do the dirty work.

Just have to keep him out of the grubby hands of GWS, which I'm sure can be achieved.

Long live Pendlebury!

I don't think pendlebury has been better than judd was in his first 100 games. But judd basically had the best first 100 games of almost anyone ever. Pendlebury clearly a superstar and will win a Brownlow.

Very different players. I don't think it's really a good comparison, but certainly Pendles has had an outstanding start to his career and has the world at his feet. He still has real scope for improvement, which is scary.

What Pendles doesn't do is completely dominate games in the way Judd still can (and routinely did earlier in his career). He is a much more unobtrusive player, but a brilliant "architect", if that makes sense.

Pendlebury will win the Brownlow next year. Lock it in Eddie. Very Happy

Poor Swanny doesn't attract the maggots' votes (perhaps it's the tatts). But Pendlebury's effort this year indicated to me he's the heir apparent to the Fraudster.

The only thing that cost Swan a Brownlow was Pendles, and vice-versa. 2 players from the same club in the top 5 brownlow votes. That's SPECIAL!

I think I'd have to go with Pendles' girlfriend, although that might be a bit biased as I haven't seen Judd's.... I just don't trust his taste...

You have never seen Rebecca Twigley? Shocked
Where have you been hiding for the last 6 years?

The issue is not Judd's taste, its her taste that is in question....
