Look, this is not an anti-Eddie rant. I appreciate many of the things he's done at Collingwood - not the least that we are back in profit again.

BUT....

What the hell does Eddie know about golf?

I've just come in, put on the Presidents Cup and there is Mr Everywhere trying to commentate on golf. Not only does he NOT have a voice for golf, but he keeps stumbling over his facts. He just doesn't seem to have any chemistry with the golfing commentators either. Thank goodness an old professional like Jack Newton is there to bail him out.

No Eddie. Stick to footy. It's really the ONLY sport you know anything about.

All the other commentators must have chosen something more exciting to cover, like snail-racing or Buddhist meditation. Razz

But do you know for a fact he doesn't know anything about Golf, or other sports?

That's not to say he shouldn't just stick with football, he could know a lot about other sports. I haven't watched the golf so I don't know if he was good or bad, as golf doesn't appeal to me.

Yep, Eddie should stick to football, something he hasn't called in years. Meantime I seem to recall him having a role in the last winter olympics.

If I had to put up with Ed and his "commentary" of F1 all those years ago, then you have to put with him at the golf.
Gringe.

I hate to say it, but either we have moved on or Ed has fossilized. He's almost a male Kellie Underwood to my mind now.

I have been known to complain about Bruce McAvenney's mannerisms, but at least he has an aura of sporting credibility about his commentary. I suspect Eddie has been hosting that awful Millionnaire show for too long.

Perhaps talkback radio IS his true medium now.

Eddie is not really the commentator - he is more like the lead in for IBF and Jack Newton - who both have a wealth of golf experience and knowledge.

IBF is probably the best global golf commentator - totally unbiassed and unlike Faldo who always has to bring his achievements (as good as they are) into every event he commentates on.

I should add that Eddie is also the President of that new T-20 team that Warnie is playing for.

I hope he leaves a bit of room for Collingwood. Wink

Yep, the Melbourne Stars, Brayshaw is the president of the Melbourne Renegades.

Their first game is against Hobart at Blundstone Arena, iirc.
