Was given a ticket to see them play live on Thursday night.

Are they any good? I must confess to only having peripheral knowledge of the band.

Bit ordinary for my liking, had one song that got some air play in the early 90's (I always thought it was called Vasoline) "She dont use Jelly"

I'd ebay the ticket and spend the money taking your lady to NPMs for dinner.

lol.

Wow, early '90s? I thought they were relatively contemporary. Listened to a few clips on Youtube - didn't immediately grab me, but liked some of the more psychedelic elements.

they played vasoline on MMM during the week as part of their alphabetic count down.

My first thought was I hadn't heard that in years.

David, they are a great band with a long and rich history. They're not necessarily my thing but there's no doubt they're one of the pioneering experimental acts of our time to have crossed over to wider success. Ignore "She Don't Use Jelly" which was a novelty hit in the mid 90s - instead skip to albums The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, and youtube the song "Do You Realise" for a more representative taste.

Knowing what I do of your tastes I'd say you'd be mad to squander a freebie on them.

Just out of curiosity, does that mean you think he should go? Confused

David they are an awesome band! You should definitely go!

The band has been around since 1983 so they are not just an indie-pop creation from the grunge era. Their albums can be quite out there.

The Flaming Lips - She Don't Use Jelly

At their live shows the lead singer runs over the top of the crowd inside a plastic bubble.

There is also a documentary on the band called "The Fearless Freaks". That might be good to watch beforehand -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fearless_Freaks

Speaking of Dolly... her and Anthony Albanese might be a hot item!

US singer Dolly Parton thanks Transport Minister Anthony Albanese for helping organise her transport during her tour of Australia.

I'm lucky if i know the time let alone day it is.
(The Rogan Josh sausages are made on Saturday this week).
I must have words with Andrew, his slip-shod sausage making is throwing my social schedule to blazes!
