Walsh was on Fox Sports News and has said to expect some more contract news in the coming days. Fox Sports News seems to be indicating that it could mean the signing of Wellingham, Reid, and O'Brien.

Walsh also said that if you want to stay at Collingwood, they will try to accommodate that. I assume that was in answer to Clokes future.

EDIT: Noticed that Proud Pies posted the tweet from the Collingwood Twitter account in another thread.

COLLINGWOOD is on the verge of re-signing All-Australian defender Ben Reid and exciting forward Alex Fasolo.

This follows on from after yesterday announcing a three-year contract extension for Dayne Beams.

The Magpies are believed to be close to securing Reid, 23, and Fasolo, 20, delivering on a promise to try and secure its best young talent ahead of the finals.

Reid and Fasolo are considered key components to Collingwood's future success. The new deals for both could be finalised by early next week.

Reid was considered a target of both Greater Western Sydney and Sydney, where his brother Sam, is one of the Swans' forwards.

It is understood that the Magpies are keen to lock in most of their respective talent before the start of September.

heard Walshy on SEN last night. Made me very confident that we have a very sensible, no nonsense experienced man in charge of this very important function at the club ie: re-signing players.

Sent a strong message to Cloke. Said that we have a business to run and if a project is going nowhere, you dont waste time with it. Put it on the shelf and focus on the other business that needs to be done ie: re-signing our other young stars.

Agreed. Walsh is an excellent operator and probably the most important cog in the wheel.

He keeps everyone and everything working smoothly.

How much money will Carlton throw his way if Mick is coach? Butters and Hine too.

I hope they all tell Carlton and Swann to get £$%$ed

You're right Carlton would throw truckloads at everyone that has made our system so successful. Let's hope they practice what they preach to the players. To achieve long term success you have to make sacrifices to keep the group together.

Reid, Fas locked in, would be great. By October all signed except Cloke would be quite an intertesting situation.
