Assuming no more injuries - which is totally unrealistic - my preferred finals team is as follows:

Backs: Johnno Taz Maxy

Half Backs: Heater Reid O'Brien

Centre: Daisy Pendles Toovey

Half Forwards: Fasolo Dawes Didak

Forwards: Krakouer Cloke Sinclair

Folls: Jolly, Swanny, Beams

Interchange: Blair, Sidebottom, Wellingham, Elliott

Emergencies: Brown, Clarke, Seedsman

i would drop either sinclair or elliott (i know they have been good players this year) and put brown or goldy on bench. BUT it also depends on which team we play in gf.

In: Goldsack
Out: Krakouer or Elliott. Possibly even Didak, depending on form.

Tarrant or Brown? Relly hard to select just one. I am undecided. Neither one is in great form. Brown has been horrible but seems to have lifted this last week or two. Tarrant hasn't quite clicked since he came back. wait and see.

Good post. RudeBoy.

Now, let's see if E starts a new thread for his Wednesday best 22 or uses this one. Surprised

Rudeboy I almost totally agree. But depends who we meet. If we meet Hawthorn we may need 3 tall defenders for Franklin, Roughead and Gunston. Also I'd either have Goldy on the Interchange or at least as an emergency.

Asuming that he is match fit I would play Goldsack on the forward line, start Sinclair on the bench, list Elliot as an emergency and wait til next year to start Seedsman's finals career. Otherwise I agree with Rude Boy.

I'm ignoring you at this point Tannin Laughing Laughing

speculating about the team is a fun but futile exercise for all of the reasons that have been discussed.

I stand by my earlier call that based on where everyone is right now in terms of fitness, match practice, ability snd standing within the team, there are 17 players who will be first selected, IF FIT and then there are about 10 players who are fighting for the remaining 5 spots. I have a view on who i think will get them, but i think there is a fair amount of healthy debate to be had on that question.

Toovey [open*] Shaw
Maxwell Reid O'Brien
Thomas Swan Sidebottom
Blair Cloke Wellers
Goldsack Dawes Fasolo

Jolly Pendles Beams

One of Tarrant or Brown gets the open spot left on the ground. That is for sure.

Then the 4 others to be slected will come from the following:

BJ, Didak, Sinclair, Elliot, [Brown/Tarrant], Clarke, Buckley, Seedsman, Krakouer and maybe Macaffer.

You also need to add Cam Wood as cover for Jolly and maybe i'd throw in Paine and there is a squad of 30 players for our 2012 creack at the flag.

As i've said monotonously since week 1 and every week in between, this year its between us and the Hawks, with the Cats being the only smokey who can get into the mix.

Macaffer doesn't stand a chance in anybody's side?

I’d have Brown and Tarrant in the side. When all 3 are firing, as we saw against Syd, you can’t double and triple team forwards.

I think going forward, that’s going to be a major thing in our game plan.

Krakouer looks a lot more advanced than him even though they've gone step for step so far, Krak has his touch but Caff doesn't, even now we might not get the miles in the legs of Krak let alone get touch and fitness for Caff.. he's a got a bigger body and will probably take longer.. big outsider at this stage

Totally agree about Goldsack. He's a starter in my best 22. Provides great pressure, he's got guts and is versatile. As Tannin says, he would come in for Krak or Elliot.
Hopefully Didak can stay in form, last week was great, if he can build on that or break even with that performance he stays in. His class is needed.

Only problem is neither of those two are forwards.

IMO, Goldsack was poor before his injury so whether he makes it depends on what form he comes back in.

Dids, Krak and Fas all in the forward line at one time makes us very skillfull but also very slow. Too slow, I reckon.
