They are doing something right.

Quote:
Tigers claw in the cash

THEY have made the finals just twice in the last 30 years, but Richmond has posted its greatest ever financial profit, the dormant giant of the AFL making more than $3million this year. Incredibly the Tigers record profit was $1million more than the operating profit posted by grand finalist Hawthorn, which was announced last week.

The Richmond result included contributions from its Fighting Tiger Fund, but Richmond has now posted financial profits for eight years running.

The profit meant Richmond had reduced its debt by $1.5million to below $2million - down more than $2.5million in two years. Richmond narrowly missed the finals this year meaning they cannot now fulfil the ambitious plan of "3-0-75", the promise of three finals appearances, zero debt and 75,000 members within five years that they set three years ago.

While they were short of the on-field target, the strongly supported Tigers are now on track for the off-field goal, with debt likely to be wiped out and the rising membership of 53,072 a significant factor in the club profit. The club also has record sponsorship income of $3.4million.

I must admit I have a soft spot for this sleeping giant of footy. They have by far the most passionate cheer squad, the most exciting club song, and always tease but rarely deliver. Perfect really. Laughing

Oh and don't forget that Richmond made $1 million more profit than Hawthorn, despite the fact the Hawks get $5 million per year gratis from the gullible Tasmanian government.

That's what I call hilarious! Without the Tassie taxpayer contribution the Hawks would be merging with Melbourne all over again. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Yeah you gotta hand it to them. The average member pays 100 hundred dollars. Whereas we raise double that. Our members go to twice as many games or they are double counting their social club and seat members.

Yep, it's a bit like in the EPL, you just know that no matter how long West Ham plays, they'll never win the Championship. But you have to hand it to their supporters, they support West Ham until the day they die. I think Richmond supporters are like that.

Perhaps not, but they'll have to get relegated to have a chance!

There is no logical reason why Richmond can't win the Premiership. All it takes is good administration, smart drafting, enough money to keep the creditors happy, lots of well placed sponsorship, a bunch of talented kids who peak together, a decent coach, plus the ability to dominate the competition for one year.

Sounds simple, sounds like our mob.

The only way I want to see Richmond and finals mentioned in the same sentence is if the Tiges don't make the m again or Ben Richmond has a stellar year and appears in our GF winning side.

Tigers & Blues - the big question used to be who I hated more , but thanks to ninethmond being so pathetic over the last few decades the Blues won out .

Once the tiggers start being a threat then my hatred will reassert itself .

May the tiggers forever be in their rightful position of finishing 9th every year .

I have good friends who are Richmond supporters who still mention the Mother's Day massacre! There-in lies a glimpse into the word of the Tigers fan!

Ok, for those who are unfamiliar it was this game....the date is May 1991!!!

http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/6301/newsid/76400/default.aspx

I do then retort the return game at Vic Park in the penultimate round that year, where Daicos kicked that miracle (another!) goal battling against former Collingwood player, Terry Keays..But they don't seem to recall that!
