AFL and Drugs

Well unless you have been hiding under a large rock lately, you may have noticed some subtle hints in the media and other circles about the drug issues and certain AFL players. Moreover, the focus seems to be the lack of credible testing of players by the AFL or its affiliates. By credible I mean testing with genuine penalties for contraventions. Not this pussy wussy three strikes and you might be spoken to nonsense. Now I must say, I enjoy my drugs! Wow you all gasp! But mine are of the legal and acceptable kind. They come in a superb green and gold can with the letters VB on it. When I need a a real fix, I grab for the old Corio Whisky to calm my anger and nervous shock after a Collingwood loss or a bad umpiring decision. Alas Bertha attempts to control my habit by demanding I drink less and enjoy her muffins. No real choice actually. But back to the players and their alleged drugs. Test they must. But for goodness sake lets cut this pretence crap out and hit any offenders really hard. Cancel their playing licence and warn others that they risk the toughest penalties for drug use. Now I have remained quiet on the Essendon issue, but I see little difference, whether it club wide abuse or individual players. I crave for the days when players would come up to the Social Club after training and enjoy a few beers with the club power brokers. Some players used to also come up before training. Argh those were the greatest days.

Good on her for potting any and all - this is a disgraceful problem that the AFL has typically chosen to ignore until it has become an absolute crisis.
