Post subject: Alex Ferguson on Collingwood Board !? | |
|
NO, well hes not actually, but hey, I got your attention. ! But, ya never know, for years eddie and MM have banged on and on about how Manchester United is the type of club Carringbush should aspire too, should emulate, so if Ferguson ever wanted to expand his horizons, perhaps our Lord Eddie could use his powers of persuasion. ?
No doubt our big Man Untd fan, jack spain, would love to see ol Alex on our Board. Put it this way, we could do a lot worse. Im dreamin of course, but dreams are part of life eh. ! _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

He would only come over if he was manager. Which means he is in charge of all recruiting and drafting as well.
As long as we are prepered to let him take over those areas, he might be able to also win us 13 premierships in 26 years. Of course he would be 97 when he finished. |

The AFL to replace Mark Neeld with Ferguson. Melbourne will still go 1-21 next year. _________________ "Life is too important to be taken seriously" ~ Oscar Wilde |

I certainly wouldn't vomit if he took us to 13 flags in 26 years. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

If the AFL get rid of the salary cap he or anyone else might be able to do this.
The so called "best" Soccer managers are so over rated simply because they don't coach/manage on an even playing field. |

He had less to work with than a few others and still managed to be way more succesful than the other big clubs. Not overrated, at all, imo. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

Yes, he built that club back up again, that's his greatest achievement but he's really competing against 3-4 other teams as the rest have no chance each year of winning the title.
I'd rate a Bill Belechick or a Phil Jackson higher, someone who was in a salary cap restricted sport yet has still managed to win so many titles. |

He's the greatest manager in the modern era, but to say he had less to work with is not necessarily true. He's had boards that have been willing to plunge the club into obscene levels of debt to keep the on-field success flowing. |

I'm guessing Manchester will continue the success without him..... _________________ No Pressure, No Diamonds

^^ Not unless they nab Mourinho. And even then, they will struggle to be as successful. 13 championships in 26 years! I don't think you guys realise how amazing that is. And that's without the many FA cups and European trophies. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

His two European trophies provide a little more perspective, particularly given the uneven nature of the English premiership. Still an absolutely amazing career.
I actually think Moyes is a better fit, given Ferguson is still going to have a significant influence on the club. I think Ferguson will become something akin to what we wanted Malthouse to be. _________________ Be Staunch, Be Proud, Be Collingwood

It is amazing ....not doubt. I just meant I don't think it was all about one man. Every cog in the machine contributed. _________________ No Pressure, No Diamonds
