it seems we dont have the speed in the legs to stop teams from switching sides and exposing us. There seems to be one side of the ground open to the oipposition at all times. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

I noticed that big time last night.
The Cows seemed to catch us out with a spread across the guts.
That seemed apparent with 90% of their attack. _________________ Bring Back Tranquilli |

Was more due to a lack of pressure on the Crows backs... when our fwds put pressure on their kicks coming out they didn't deliver the ball well and the open spaces closed down.
Pressure on the ball carrier reduces time to make decisions that's the key to making opposition attacking moves look sloppy and slow! _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

Another consequence of the super flood that Buckley prefers to use.
Still better than being split up the middle though. _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

I still think its all about work rate, we just need to work harder for the entire game. When we did apply pressure in the 2nd and 3rd quarters they didn't switch with as much ease. When we dropped off again late in the 3rd they started to find gaps again. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

Agree. But at the same time I don't think there is a side in the league that can sustain that sort of workrate for 4 quarters. Hence the ebbs & flows in most games. It's as much about minimising the damage when workrate drops off. |

i agree. I also think teams are learning to allow people run through the wings and cut them off when they try to come back inboard. This saves a lot of energy. Unfortunately, the better teams bust us right up the middle or along the edge of the square when we press up. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Reference the Sydney game. I think it was a more glaring example. They entered their forward line 3 against our one player so many times across the course of the game.
Just depends upon more pressure at the start, but we are not a particularly quick team. If we put pressure on, the kick downfield gets sloppier and it is harder to run it end to end against us. _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |
