Post subject: Ladder if the AFL reverses Essendons wins | |
|
The AFL faces a huge dilemma if they do choose to make Essendons premiership points null and void for the year.
They will have to come up with the fairest way of punishing Essendon with out greatly impacting the current season.
Most pundits believe they will do what the NRl did with the Melbourne storm in 2010 in which they nullified The storms wins but clubs were not automatically handed the four points and had to beat them to on the scoreboard to gain those points.
The difference for this was that the NRL did this early on in the season as they had to keep some interest in the Melbourne games that remained.
The AFL could follow this method without greatly impacting the competition.
They could also reverse the wins that the bombers had this year, which would hand the points back to the teams that Essendon defeated.
However this would hinder the more successful clubs which did defeat The bombers, and would also benefit the teams that played Eseendon twice this year although many teams already benefit from playing the likes of GWS and Melbourne twice whilst others do not.
If the results were reversed the ladder would something like this ( Not including percentage)
1 Hawthorn 19 16 3 0 2175 1572 138.36 64
2 Fremantle 19 15 3 1 1737 1308 132.80 62
3 Geelong 19 15 4 0 2098 1576 133.12 60
4 Sydney 19 14 4 1 1978 1431 138.23 58
5 Collingwood 19 14 5 0 1899 1585 119.81 56
6 Richmond 19 14 5 0 1821 1541 118.17 56
7 Port Adel 19 12 7 0 1815 1668 108.81 48
8 Carlton 19 10 9 0 1849 1711 108.07 40
9 West Coast 19 10 9 0 1935 1801 107.44 40
10 Adelaide 19 9 10 0 1751 1683 104.04 36
11 Nth Melb 19 8 11 0 1964 1629 120.56 32
12 Gold Coast 19 8 11 0 1656 1799 92.05 32
13 Bris Lions 19 8 11 0 1588 1876 84.65 32
14 W Bulldogs 19 7 12 0 1634 1961 83.32 28
15 St Kilda 19 4 15 0 1504 1891 79.53 16
16 Melbourne 19 3 16 0 1438 2331 61.69 12
17 GWS Giants 19 3 16 0 1446 2558 56.53 12
18 Essendon 19 0 19 0 1928 2295 84.01 0
it would leave us a in a nice position just half a game out of the top four with three games to play. _________________ Andrew

Won't happen. If they do strip points, they won't give the sides that lost to Essendon the 4pts. _________________ Ohhhh the premierships a cakewalk for the good old COLLINGWOOD |

I agree but this saga has taken enough twists and turns this year that nothing would suprise me. _________________ Andrew

Freo the big winner there and considering they play Dees, Port, and Saints, they should finish 2nd or even 1st if other results go their way.
Best result I can get the Pies is 5th, realistically. _________________ The window is open my friend! |
