Post subject: Rumour about Nathan Fyffe to Collingwood 2015 | |
|
Not staking the house on this, but Fyffe ( allegedly) is keen to sign with Collingwood at season' end.
The source is from a fanatic, but level-headed Collingwood family friend.
Those who know me, know I don't just put up crap for a reaction.
My only question is how do we get Fyffe from Freo??
He is 22 at seasons end, but wouldn't be a restricted free agent would he?
If he was, could the Magpies bid, say $8 million over eight years, to blow Freo out of the water, so to speak. Our own Franklin/Tippett moment??
We must have salary cap room with Jolly, Dids, Shawry, Johnno, Krakouer and potentially Maxy and Lynch and Clarke gone at seasons end.

Thank you Mr Dark Stranger.
I have known the family friend many years, and, given my Eastern European heritage, I do not ask a man for proof when I have known him since landing in this beautiful country almost fifty years ago.
I would love Fyffe in my team, just can't see it happening, that's all. _________________ Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away... |

Good evening mr w. I'd love to see fyfe with the b&w. Getting it done of course will be the hard part and while pendles presumably is on less than a million a year then I would not be paying anybody any more than that.
Greatest respect, dalyc. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better

The one silver lining is that it is Freo we'd be trading with.
James Clement, Brodie Holland, Taz for Medhurst and pick 8? (Reid) gives us hope that perhaps Clarke & Yagmoor........we can dream. _________________ Hearing the 'Black & White Army' roar is the greatest sound in the world. |

Lyon will never, ever, deal with Collingwood.
Will we have pick 30 again? _________________ I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within. |

Warbie love too see it myself but can't see it happening. He won't get a million $$ here.
If we were going to outlay that sort of money Swan and Pendles would already be getting it IMO.
Plus we have several youngsters who after this year will be getting contract upgrades (frost, Langdon, Witts, Grundy and Elliot) so how much room we have in the cap may be limited.
We upgraded Beams and Sidebottom last year to longer term deals.
He would have to take $600k tops but then he would get to play with Swan, Pendles, Beams and would fit in very nicely. |

He's a Perth boy, but expect his manager to create such rumours to inflate his Freo offer. _________________ Defender...........

Great potential news Mr W. but if it's Nathan Fyffe (not Nathan Fyfe) that's my 5 year old nephew - lovely kid but might struggle in the big game in 2015

A straight swap with Beams? Or a young star plus a pick? That's what we'd be looking at to get him over. You reckon Lyon would be happy with anything less? No chance! _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Agree with above
Would love it to be true....and it might well be true that Fife wants to come to Pieland. But I can see more hurdles then solutions:
1. Beyond Malthouse the next most "boiling with Anti-collingwood rage' would be Lyon over the Ball deal (which for the record St.Kilda are at fault not the Pies) but I don't think Lyon would be rushing back to the table with us any time soon .
2. What to we offer Freo to let him go? we would have to move heaven and earth to get him from Freo (who would also be mad to let him go). We are hardly going to have the draft picks to flash around particularly with the Moore first round supposed lock-in.
3. What is he asking? for a player of his quality you would imagine big money. And yes we may have some cash....but i would hardly think we have Hawthorn 'Post Buddy' kind of money.
We shall see i guess. but my money would be on him staying. or perhaps being wooed by a Hawthorn or alike. Still we can dream.

A nice replacement for Swan and Ball.
Anyone suggesting a swap for Beams is barking mad. Beams is already in the top five mids statistically and he will be right at the top of the tree for another ten years. Beams stays! _________________ Rain or hail, I wag my tail |
