For those interested, a mate has just launched an excellent app called Footy Alerts (both iphone and android) https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/footy-alerts/id841870245?mt=8 - Let us know what you think, he'd appreciate any feedback as he irons out initital bugs etc. Cheers.

I like the idea.

Not sure why people release to iPhone first though. Android has a larger user base.

We have looked at it at work.

iPhone is cheaper and easier to develop for than Android. Android there are many screen sizes, hardware specs software versions and manufactures with their own crap over raw android.

iphone still has screen size, hardware and software variations, but the coding language is much easier and it's easier to cater for one manufacturer than dozens.

The one other thing too, iphone users are more likely to upgrade to the latest software once it's released where as Android still stagger releases and carriers also have their say. With that said, there are more iphone users on the current software release than android on the current release.

my GS3 is still a few versions behind, because Telstra and Samsung are slow.

Though that being said, the above is almost becoming a moot point as now most release for Android and apple at the same time. Though Apple users are more likely to pay for apps over android users.
