Luke Ball has played 74 games for Collingwood. (216 for his career).

With 11 games to go in season 2014 (and finals), he needs 26 games to make 100 club games.

(He'd probably almost be there, but the knee injury in 2012 cost him at least 20 games).

In a side note, if he does make it to 100 for the club, he'd need a further 8 to make it to 250 career games.

Actually more about how Ball goes. He's got the runs on the board and remains our best midfield extractor. Yes, he's probably not as quick as he once was. Yes, his disposal has always been questionable. But he's doing the job required.

If we're really lucky, he'll have played another 14 games by years end! Razz (The final three all wins of course!) Cool

Has he got any kids? Are they boys? Would he send them to the saints anyway?

Moot point Mr DalyC. St Kilda will cease to exist well before any of Ball's kids are eligible for father-son.

Ball's sons can wear the number 12 after Banksy's sons have finished with it.

I am squarely in the boat that has him not playing these games. His output at times this year has been good, but his inconsistency is increasing, add injury concerns, this adds up to him being in the last part of his career. Parting ways at the end of the year (2014) may seem harsh, but I can't see him playing and making any material contribution in 2015. Maybe it's coverage/depth.

Playing him as a sub as we have done twice this year, to me is a waste and not the type of player you would want to come on, in the last quarter.

Bit early for that. He only got married to Amy P over the latter part of the pre-season this year.

Buckley explained why he wanted Ball as a sub in that game - and he was right: Luke destroyed the contest in the last quarter. I remain of the view that he is Collingwood's most important mid-fielder because he is, at the moment, not interchangeable with any of the others - and none of them can perform his role. Hopefully, over time, Adams will grow into it but he is well short of the mark, at the moment. If Collingwood was at the bottom of the ladder, one might take the "just give the kids some games" attitude - but that's not where the team is at. And if there are to be finals against big-bodied Hawthorn or Geelong mids, Luke is the first one I want to see picked.

I would have said/voted no at the start of the year - with Adams arriving and JT doing well in 2013 and improving... however Adams has been poor this year in the seniors and JT has not gone forward with re to consistent performances so my votes is YES as Ball is looking like the main extractor this year and will probably be around next year to pass on the baton at some stage!

I don't think he will play finals for us next year... but he will get to the 100 games mark around mid 2015:) I agree with Dave and think it will mainly be up to JT and Adams next year to demand their spot in the team -

Adams and JT will need to improve their kicking skills if they're to genuinely overtake Ball over the next 2 years.
