One reason we lost to the Bulldogs was the way they forced Langdon to be accountable and play deep in defense, rather than playing loose across the half back line where he's been terrific for us all year. This is the same tactic teams often used against Heater, where he was at his weakest. This game will have been a good learning experience for Langdon, so hopefully he will cope better in those situations in the future.

It's asking too much of him to play as the third defensive tall. He's not physically equipped to do that, at this stage.

Pretty harsh on the kid imo. He had no hope on Liam Jones in a 1 on 1. Against someone his own size, I would back him every day of the week.

Blame our mids, they were appalling. If the ball gets in 50 plus times you most likely struggle.

Caught 1 out on Liam Jones more often than not. Would have been nice to have Brown, Reid, Maxy or the Sack to swing into that tall defender slot but the footy Gods have conspired against us.

We will have similar issues against the Dawks with Roughy, Gunston and Hale. Possibly even Spangher. Which one do you see Langdon matching up on? Be even worse if Frosty doesn't get up as Tooves will have to take another of those 3.

I wasn't blaming the kid at all. Rather from a team perspective, we need to be alert when teams try to drag a player like Langdon deep into defense, out of his comfort zone. He, and the team will learn from that. Clearly, we missed Maxy who would have organised the troops better.

It wasn't Langdon fault.
We repeatedly coughed-up the ball (and the game) in the midfield.

Don't think it is so much a comfort zone thing as a mismatched opponent.

Langdon wasnt meant to be on Jones.
Keeffe was playing on Jones.
Twice Langdon was forced to go to him cause Keeffe was no where near him and one other time Jones was all by himself. Keeffe was too busy playing off his man then run back hard to get to his man.

This however can also be argued it wasnt Keeffe's fault either as there was no pressure from the midfield and not having maxy there to organise them was badly missed

It will be a great learning experience for him.

However, he also screwed up not just being on Liam Jones either.

He directly caused 3 goals through poor decision-making & poor execution. Kicking out on one occasion.

Of course it's a team game & the mids weren't rushing back to assist as well as they have in the past.

Notwithstanding his screwups, Langdon still played a decent game

For someone of his experience his going to have a game like that every now and then, same goes for the rest of our defence unit they are all relatively young and inexperienced bar Toovey and Young although his still relatively new to the pies setup
