The situation with Tony Adams recently had me scrolling other options midfield
and Brendan Abbot caught my attention.
At 186 cm and 92 kg a solid unit (Dane Swan 185cm & 92kg ) andl by all accounts
a tough & hard nut who see,s fellow WA boy Marley Williams as a role model
OK maybe not in first few mid prospects but intend to follow his progress at VFL level

I think just about all of our 2014 recruits have midfield capacity/potential. Even Moore, although probably more as a ruckman.

Kids will need to develop a bit but we certainly added some flexibility.

Specifically with Abbott, will need to get over the ankle injury and then build a fitness base so you'd expect 2015 to be VFL but who knows how each of these individuals will come on..

You've never heard of Tony Adams, DTM? Shame on you - he was one of Arsenal's greatest players. He played 22 seasons for them and was captain for 14.

[SNIP]

Back on track, Abbott has some of the physical attributes necassary it remains to be seen whether he has the application to harden his body and build his tank enough to implement the skills he will need to develop.

In other words he has the basic physical attributes but needs to build on them - but after all that reflects the pick number we used on him so all good.

Oops sorry-- Taylor Adams is the name and i also sold Brenden Abbott short
He is 188cm not 186cm.

For start up rekon they will go for players with AFL games experience like Crisp ,Greenwood and Varcoe but expected some fierce input from VFL boys to break
in

there are literally millions of people in this world that are around 186-188 cms tall and around the same weight as Dane Beams. That is unfortunately not the only two ingredients for a champion footballer!

I am so sick of people looking at our draft picks and drawing conclusions from their height or other appearance.

Tony Shaw was one of our best centremen ever! Peter Daicos might have been our greatest goalkicker!

On a champion midfielder, height and strength are two things that can help a player be better (all else equal), but height and weight on its own are completely meaningless.......

As opposed to looking at our draft picks and drawing conclusions from their American background.... Rolling Eyes

I would not write off Mr Adams because of an incident in Geelong... he will improve in 2015 but Greenwood will also be there.

Silk - Pendles
Grunt - Greenwood and Adams
Size - Witts or Grundy
SPeed - Varcoe
Smarts - Swan
Endurance and Smarts - Sidey

C Varcoe, Swan, Sidey
R Grundy, Pendles, Greenwood/Adams

NOt sure if we need a Tagger specialist, but if needed now and then I would put forward Thomas as the guy for that job in the absence of Caff.

Although if they had straightened his legs, he would have been about 6'4".

Crikey I'll just be happy when he completes his first full training session.

Patience grasshopper.

P.S-I think Freeman is the one who'll have a genuine positive impact on the side this season out of all untried youngsters.

Hardly a big call but he looks primed.

De Goey the obvious smokey in the second half of the year across half forward.

Hammer, nail, head swoop.

Freeman looks exciting and ready to go and De Goo has lots of candy to bring to the party if he can get it together.

All will be revealed in the fullness of time
