Very, very hard to pick a side this week. We have good players smashing down the selection door and doing everything right in the reserves. Stui Magpie is fit ... well, he can nearly walk, which is fit by Stui standards ... and screaming for a senior game, and Brown26 is stiff by any measure.

(Um. This is nothing to do with Stui Magpie. He's just stiff. Er, not so far as I know, anyway. Not that there is anything wrong with that. And there isn't any "that" to be wrong with, if it was wrong which it isn't. And in any case, nothing happened. Probably.)

I'd love to play a few of the kids so they can start building reputations, and even a few of the old codgers so they can keep on wrecking them. But how can you drop anyone from a side that so right royally shafted the Vomiters last week?

Get out there and play a blinder, lads. TP, I want to see you back in the sheds with 30 possessions and one of those nice running goals of yours from outside 50 streaming off the southern wing. Three and Wokko, I'm relying on you two lads for stonewall defence and intelligent, attacking rebound. DTM, you've been very quiet: I want a big one from you today of all days. And MagpieBat, just do what you did last week again. That'll do nicely.

don't want to cause alarm but when heading to the dawn service this morning i saw neil and his brother sir humphrey lurking around the tan track. i overheard them talking about a need to give thanks to someone and something about paying a price. they had a bit of a pep in their step for so early in the day. do we really need these types on our team?

happy to start in the centre if there is a late withdrawal but i don't want to needle anyone.

Stui, you were brilliant in the role last week. It was always going to be a very tough act, following the popular and outstanding Queenslander, but you carried out your duties with distinction ... and indeed, I noted several Nicksters being carried out sometime around 4:30am.
