Although Caff is great at taking opposition stars out of the game, it has to be said that Crisp is doing a better all-round job of the run with role. Is quicker, has a more damaging boot, kicks goals, and seems to be able to run all day long. He hurts teams more with his offence at the same time as minding a certain player, while Caff rarely offers anything but a tight tag. Don't be surprised to find when Caff is fit to go again that he might just find himself sitting in the VFL well beyond the "working into match fitness" stage.
On the back of Frankie's post about our midfield conundrum, it seems there is only enough room for one of these guys. Assuming when Caff comes back from his knee reco fit and ready, who out of these two would you prefer in the run with role and what are your thoughts? |

Crisp. Caff might have to change back into a medium forward. |

I think Crisp has been able to hurt the opposition more and will only get better. His big body in the contests is a real asset.
Caff has proven to be versatile and a hard worker so will still be in the mix, however he may need to look at mid/fwd role as suggested. _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

we can have both. caff as a lead up forward, high half forward. then send him through the midfield. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Without a drop in form across quite a few players, I can't see Caff getting into this team. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

Crisp as a mid, but I still like Caff as a mid sized forward, even if he does actually struggle to kick goals. He can take a mark, leads smartly, works hard defensively and is a good decision maker.
He's always done well in that role and the only reason he doesn't play there is we needed a tagger. I don't think we do any more, although he still has use as an emergency option in that role. _________________ "We ain't gotta dream no more" |

Crisp. Just seems to be far more damaging running through the middle than Caff ever was.

It's a nice sentiment, but who would Caff replace in the forward line? As a medium forward who can run through the middle, PK is superior imo, and he certainly won't replace Elliott or Blair. I'm struggling to see a place for him in the current side... |

Crisp by miles
If Caff turns back into a fwd then he will be competing with PK and Goldsack and possibly Freeman and De Goey.
Experienced depth or he pushes past a couple of the kids.
He has reinvented himself before. _________________ Carlscum 120 years being cheating scum |

He could do whatever it is that White is supposed to do way better than White does. |

Between Caff and White, I suppose it doesn't matter who we throw in the ruck against Sandilands. Maybe Caff could dislocate his shoulder. |

The Caff is a great competitor, but I've never really considered him in our best 22. He'll probably have to rely on injuries to others to get back in our team. |

Az, let's reassess that after we see whether White is remotely capable of contesting meaningfully in the ruck against Sandilands, shall we? Frankly, it didn't occur to me that Collingwood might let White near a ruck contest against Sandilands. |
