I just watched the women's game on TV between the Dogs and the Dees and it was more entertaining then most AFL games played this year.

It's also great to see so many young girls playing the game through the age groups now.

The AFL is organising a women's league to start in 2017, we as a club, have to join in at the grass roots level and be a part of the initial league.

Would be a mistake not to be involved on so many levels.

congrats stui on the achievement.

it seems likely the qld and wa states are best placed to add to the bulldogs and demons. i would love for us to have a team in the league. we should lead the rest of the pack in this.

Doesn't have to be in Melbourne. No reason Collingwood couldn't have a women's team based in an interstate city, even overseas (NZ?).

Collingwood is a national brand, not just Victorian (eg. look at all the non-Vic Nicksters on here).

An interstate/overseas women's team would help spread the Collingwood market footprint further afield.

I will watch who ever has the better skills. I would wager, that it shouldn't be hard for the women magpies to far surpass that of their male counterparts.

Shots fired.

Should be entertaining none the less.

Indeed!

You know, they're are actually ladies at my work who wear trousers to work...honest to God, trousers!

And why did they do away with the ladies side bar at the local pub? They were always so happy in the snug, why did that have to be changed?

I'm still getting over the fact women have the right to vote. A disgrace I tell you.

In all seriousness, as a non-neanderthal, I watched the game today and thought it was great. Hopefully they get the same funding and resources to build up a serious league, and that there's another Collingwood team for us to follow.
