I was in fits of laughter watching the segment on the Club website with Michael Christian and Jay Clark. In it they showed an interview with Grundy, where he explained he'd been beaten in the ruck most of the game, until deciding towards the end of the last quarter "ah, stuff it, I'm just going to go for the ball" !!!!!!!!!! Hello??

I know he and Moore are considered to be the intellectuals of our team, but seriously, FFS it aint that complicated.

It's got to be the funniest comment from a player I've ever heard. Laughing Laughing

Do we really need a ruck coach to tell him to go for the ball?

Maybe I could offer my services?

You would think our 1 million dollar 5 or 6 out of 10 coach might be able to spare some time to tell him to go for the ball.

Too busy sneaking peaks at Sinclairs running style.
It is what it is !

The article closes with this quote from Grundy:

I try not to overthink football, he said. When I am just playing freely and on instinct I tend to play my best. As soon as I start worrying about Player X and Player Y and what they do, then I think I am focusing on the wrong things.

My advice to Grundy is to just GO FOR THE BALL!!!!!

here's a list of assistant coaches in the afl. assuming it's accurate, note that not all clubs have a specific ruck coach.

Hmmm... according to that list, there are 3 clubs that don't have a ruck coach or a former ruckman doing "specialist", "development" or "midfield/stoppage" coaching. The clubs are Collingwood, Port Adelaide and Gold Coast. Having said that, Gold Coast has two midfield coaches, one of which is Matty Primus who, I daresay, looks after the really, really tall mids.

So yep, "not all clubs have a specific ruck coach" but all but one have a guy who played ruck on the coaching panel

Grundy, Witts and Cox are 3 incredibly promising talents. An elite ruck division is a great way to start a powerful, dominant team. We should be getting them top notch coaching in these early years to best ensure that when they peak, they are peerless.

Todays training report said he was working with the rucks and on-ballers with Tarks.

While I do appreciate the humour in the comment, it's also pretty clear you've never played ruck. Wink
