I don't know if this true or not but I think we need 1 more win to reach the milestone of 1500 matches won.

We will be the first club to do it if we achieve it.

Yes, we were 1497 in the win before that.

Our next win will be our 1500th win.

The next best team after us is Carlton who currently have 1412 wins in their club's history.

The great thing about this milestone is that we get to keep going for it, week after week, for as long as it takes.

Looks like this game:

Collingwood vs Geelong
Round: 5 Venue: Victoria Park Date: Sat, 30-Apr-1977 2:10 PM Attendance: 24281
http://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1977/040919770430.html

For a time, it was thought the win over Richmond was Collingwood’s 1000th in League company.

Only after the fact was it found to have been the 999th; the Pies had to wait one more week (when they posted a 15-point win over Geelong at Victoria Park) to become the first to 1000.

I remember Eddie making a big deal about the race to 1300.

We got there first some weeks before Carlton did at the time.

Now we have put a decent space on them, which shows how putrid they have been with their 4 spoons and 2 runner up's for the spoon.

1300 wins was achieved in Round 4 2002 against Hawthorn by my calculations.

We achieved 1400 wins in Round 21 2009 against Sydney, and we also happened to achieve 1350 wins on May 26 2006 (10 years ago) against the Bulldogs.

I remember that game against Richmond early in 1977. I was a teenager and we had Tom Hafey for the first time as coach against his old side. We were up on the top deck of the old Western (Ponsford) stand just in front of the big scoreboard. The place was packed, it was Anzac Day with over 90,000 there....and we smashed them. One of the greatest games I've ever been to.
