Post subject: Chilcot Report Released (Iraq War Inquiry)Reply with quote

The long-awaited Chilcot Report has been released detailing the British government's involvement in the Iraq War.

The inquiry into this issue started in 2009 during Gordon Brown's prime ministership especially after the fallout of the Iraq War and the evident failures that came about as a result of the intervention in Iraq.

Quote:
The questions for the Inquiry were:
• Whether it was right and necessary to invade Iraq in March 2003; and
• Whether the UK could – and should – have been better prepared for what
followed.

Conclusion:

Quote:
Military action in Iraq might have been necessary at some point. But in March 2003:
• There was no imminent threat from Saddam Hussein.
• The strategy of containment could have been adapted and continued for
some time.
• The majority of the Security Council supported continuing UN inspections
and monitoring.

The more important question is do you think Bush, Blair and Howard should be tried for war crimes Dave and P4S?
