Fox Footy
Hurley one of only seven Bombers yet to "commit" [does he not have 2017 contract} alledgedly will be helped by Essendon but require a BIG trade in his place.

If we throw our hat in the ring what currency do we have as trade[player]

Sidey.

And before you all go nuts, he's probably the only one on our list with some reasonable currency who we can replace without too much pain.

There'd have to be something else coming our way with Hurley though... Late first round or early second round pick.

Would'nt trade Steele. He loves the Pies and is one of our best.
Surely with Brwn, Goldy, Macaffer, Williams, Cloke and Swan potentially all gone we could dangle a decent contract in front of him.

Hurley is free to walk without the need for a trade as the workcover findings allow any player who was suspended to break their contract at any stage.

I think the premise of the OP is that the Bombers will try to orchestrate a trade rather than risk losing Hurley via court proceedings for breach of contract which would allow him to walk away from the final year (2017) of his current contract as a delisted FA.

Don't have currency for a trade & I reckon he is being overated anyway.
Carlisle was better than him & so is Hooker.
Stay away I reckon.

I too think despite him being a very good player tht he is somewhat overrated.

As for offering up Sidey - no way. We are screaming out for x-factor, especially in our forward half and he is a big part of what we have. He is an "untouchable" in my view.

Been a rumour circulating for weeks he's off to the Bulldogs and it's fairly strong. The dogs want a fullback and he wants to be playing in a side competing for finals and a flag
We are no chance and Essendon won't be getting any draft picks for him they will be more worried about getting sued by a load of former players when the work cover findings are released

I would also argue....looking at it for a moment from the Bombers point of view... losing one out of twelve you can handle...since they have the #1 pick they might as well stock pile. Dogs will hand over their first rounder and maybe a player for him...they might as well do it.

For the Pies i say look elsewhere...Hurley is an alright.....not brilliant player we need a young gun ...a Jake Lever from Adelaide (not that he is on the market).

What would be the point of recruiting a 26 year old KPD, given that we can't seriously expect to be competing for a flag before 2019/2020? Our team has too many holes across the board to justify mortgaging the future to get him right now. He's not the right profile for us (even assuming he isn't being ridiculously overrated). If he's still playing top footy when we're approaching our next window, we could consider it then (his next 3 or 4 year deal will be running out by then).

He will follow the money - No trade is required and does not need to help out Essendon to facilitate a trade.

IMHO he is a 600k player - I'm sure there will be offers of $800k so not sure where that leaves us. We will have the money to spare if the club rates him.
