October 9th and Melbourne thump us 119 to 62

Then the Machine got up and running and then
knocked off Richmond in three GF's then Geelong

Prolly not ready yet but boy 2017 to 2020 sure

Yes - Collingwood is the one team that is allowed to equal the greatest achievement in footy history!

I would be happy with a full year of good footy - not half a season - and then playing finals footy…

As just said I would settle for improved season and play 2017 finals

Can still at least go three weeks in from outside 4 (or bomb out inside 4)

Dogs proved that relentless can beat the champ

We COULD have beaten our own record in the later 30s, we won the GFs of 35-36, but then lost the GFs of 37 38 39, that would have been five in a row.

If we hadn't have beaten Melbourne in 58 we would be looking at a 6 straight record. Something that can not even be contemplated now as the AFL would tinker with rules, salary caps etc. In those day the VFl organised the umpires, the footy record, the draw and the tribunal. And represented Victoria nationally. Then that arsehole Kenneth Luke got in and organised a rorted zone system that benefiited his own Carlscum mob and also handed Hawthorn a life line that is still being felt today. He rooted Collingwood, Essendon and Melbourne and if it wasn't for the money North threw around when the 210 year rule came in North as well.

This record of 4 in a row will stand another 2 or 3 century. By then there will be footy 7 days a week, 3 divisions including FNQ , Canberra. Tasmania North and South , Darwin, New Zealand, Fiji , Newcastle, Bunbury, Bendigo, Gippsland, NE Victoria and Albury. There will be no suburban clubs. Eatern Melbourne, Northern suburbs, Inner melbourne,, Sout east Melbourne, Western suburbs, and a side encompassing Melton, Carlonie springs, Bachus marsh and ballarat. Thomsoc mark 4 or 5 will be on the board saying it about time they sacked Hussein Lamumba Jong as coach of the Inner Melbourne womens side and saying he only got the job because he is mates of long standing president Edith McGuire, great great great granddaughter of Joseph McGuire , Max Gaw, Caroline Wilson and Dane Swan.

IIRC we lost the 1925 GF to Geelong.

Funny how teams make multiple GFs in a row but not many win 3, let alone 4!

Honestly, imagine following a team that played in 4 or 5 GF's in a row. I couldnt imagine what it would be like. I'd take a Geelong 3 in 5 years even.

But to win 4, or even 3, in a row....

Quite a few of us saw Collingwood play 3 in a row and 5 in 5 years (including the draw) between 77 and 81. We don't have to imagine it - we still bear the scars.

Yup, I think the result of that was 4 clubs winning flags over a 20 year period. Luke was a pie hater of first order.

The piss and poo did seven GFs in a row in the 80s, god, their fans have been well and truly spoilt brats, and act like it. Rolling Eyes
