Not ditching our theme song (never touch that).. but an anthem for the terraces. A plee to Rudeboys brother...(from my FB page)
over to you...
OK... Its time to me to make a footy rant (Yep switch off you non footy, anti AFL, anti Collingwood, people, dont take offence, but your comments will be deleted..awwww bye bye)...
This is my point..
Got a great bro, talented beyond belief in music and songwriting abilities, He is part of a band that ive been following for over 30+ years, a band in which i can proudly say I am an honourary member(Strange Tenants). A person who writes, sings, lives with unbelievable passion. Will go down in Australian songwriting history without a doubt, in genres not universily recognised to full capacity (at this point in time). Pioneered the music scene and was integeral in the ska scene in the height of the ska scene from inception (along with brother Bruce and co.). I could go on and on, with many accolades and acomplishments, my point today , at this time is footy related though....
(This is where the non Collingwood and anti AFL people can go make a cuppa)...
Without going to far back into history lads and lasses...we need to be HATED once again. People always say we hate you, but its not loud enough..why...Cuz we are at the moment , very vanilla. Once we dominated and we were the envy of the nation...now comes the time...and my challenge..to ..
Mr Evil Ian Hearn ...
Somewhere im sure in that myriad of genius, lyrical computer songbook, brain of yours must be a catchy but inspiring Magpie Chant/ or song. One for the ages. I remember (and still probably got a cassette of an attempt in the early 80's..gunna win a flag before the world turns upside down, and of course Jack Thompsons ..good ol Collingwood forever which seemed to be stuck on 78rpm.
Id like input from Mssrs Joffe Joffa Corfe and David Allan for their ideas and thoughts, but Im deadly serious..
What say you brother?

now, now, Skaman ... I have always found it better to let people think you're an idiot than allowing your inner beast free on the ether-waves and confirming your condition to every bastard that chooses to absorb your stream of consciousness ... nonetheless, that being said, I have to agree that the boys seem to have lost the 'terror' factor for other teams and our public persona is no more threatening than having to listen to J Bieber loud with no escape door available. Gone are the days of the evener-uppers in our backline - Barry Harrison springs to mind here, along with the Weed and countless other proud and deft lads who knew how to get the occasional sly one in - whether the maggots were watching or not - all of this behaviour was designed of course to have the oppo 'listening' for the oncoming GBH factor and to fumble the ball into our hands ... where has all THAT gone I wonder ... f*****g faggots most of our current crop ... we need to recruit a few more from the country's lunatic asylums (I mean, that's where we got Fab Phil from after all, wasn't it?) and put the shits up the other teams so they don't know whether they're coming or going, eh ... now you've got me going, bastard! Now, as far as Musica Viva is concerned, we could adapt this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLPthiIbLmU

If we're gunna have a theme song that pulsates, that gets the passionate juices flowing that is relevant to the here & now & is topical how can we go past:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs9wuaVV33I

then again if want a song to show how to proceed forward with precision, accuracy & reflect our new found values & mission statement then we cannot go past:

Good idea, well worth it. Hey, how about something like Bound for Glory, by ol angry Anderson, even today, that stirs the emotions, and makes my hair stand on end, just so inspirational.

I've always loved the idea of a "Pieland" version of Ireland's rugby anthem.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAtMzIacbMQ

Love to see what a clever lyricist could do to make it match Collingwood. AND HEAR what the Magpie Army at a packed MCG could do. Very simple chorus, "Pieland" would sound awesome.

Yeah I'm really not sure that we should be singing anything associated with "white punks on dope!"

Doped up racist Collingwood supporters, are there any moccos and missing teeth in the song?
