Who on here does Parkrun?
For anyone that hasn't heard of this it is a 5km run held each Saturday at various places everywhere, it is a free event all you do is register and you get a barcode and with that barcode they record your time and placing on the day.
I went on my first one today in Ballarat. I believe that there were about 120 people turned up, all ages shapes and sizes! Some take it quite seriously and some walk the whole way it is an enjoyable event! _________________ Cheers big ears |

I'd never heard of them until now Ken. A quick google search and I see they are held at heaps of locations in Perth, every Saturday at 0800hr.
Might be just the thing I need to ease back into running since my 6 months of injury induced lay off.
Cheers.
The technical details:
To receive a time for your 5km run or walk you need to register on the Parkrun Australia website. Registration is completely free. Once you have registered you will receive a barcode which you will need to print off and take with you. When you complete the run you are given a token which is scanned against your barcode. Your result is then emailed to you, as well as listed on your local parkrun events page. From there you can track the number of runs you have done, your personal bests, how you went in your age category and much more _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

Yeah skids, probably ideal for you to ease you way back in!
I haven't ran with a group of people since my early 20s (30 years ago).
I was a on a slow time today but hopefully will improve over time. My time was 30:21. Would be happy by the end of the year to get this down to 25. The best time today was 17:03. _________________ Cheers big ears |

My fastest 5k is 22:56, that was during my fastest half marathon, the day I tore my Achilles.
The 30 minutes sounds like a good starting point.
17 minutes!? That's flying! _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |
