My 23 yr old son is currently teaching English to Palestinian refugees in the West Bank, and I'm incredibly proud of what he is doing. He bleeds black and white and was desperate to be at the Grannie, so I've just forked out over $3000 (I said I was mad) to fly him back for the weekend - he arrives Friday and will fly back to the Middle East 4 days later. We are both Legends members, so are lucky enough to have got seats. By my reckoning the flights and tix will end up costing me a cool $4000. Yike!

But the thing is, he was so rapt at my fatherly (foolhardy) gesture, that he just messaged me from Hebron, telling me that after we win the Premiership he is going to pay for us both to have Magpie tattoos done at Swanny's tattoo parlour. The thing is, I phucking hate tattoos! I'm also too old to start getting them now, as I'm 61. So my question is, should I or shouldn't I?

If we win, do it. Special moment with your son.

Besides, they don't hurt

Much.

No, 1 bad tattoo and your modelling career will be finished.

You have three choices.

* Hope the Eagles win.

* Get the tattoo on your foreskin and then get circumcised.

* Offer him another $4000 to skip the tattooing.

I recommend the third one.

But come to think of it, if we win, the queue outside Swannie's tattoo parlour will be very, very long. You are 61. You may not live long enough to reach the head of the queue.

Do it!

I have 2 sleeves, nothing Collingwood, but will definitely get something if we win. Something to commemorate the 3 flags in my life time would be nice, with room for additions! Very Happy

Don't delay as the older you get the more they bloody hurt! Wink

No, but if you do proceed, then maybe a small magpie on the shoulder blade?

In 2010 I think I spent about $5k in tickets and flights to get to a semi final , prelim and the two grannies... money well spent!

As for a tattoo, a small magpie in a discrete spot, particularly if there are good memories and stories to go along with it... I say do it!

I don’t mind them so much on guys, but I hate them on women! And I don’t like over done - neck, hands, face no no no .

If you really hate the idea, don’t do it. Or get a temp tat out of a chewy packet!
