I didn’t say “everyone” was, and I wasn’t referring to those two journalists. The actual Eddie haters aren’t shy about identifying themselves.

^ The Swans have had it in for Eddie for years, especially after he spoke out against COLA and their academies system.
No surprise they weaponised this issue to punish Eddie. Same with Caroline Wilson.

Yes, there was no need for him to be making a disparaging comment about anyone doing the coin toss. Stuff happens, nerves get to people, they fluff their moment in the spotlight etc. The carry on, though, was as predictable as it was ridiculous. You avoid these problems by keeping your mouth closed when you have nothing to say. |

Watching The Back Page today, I found their segment sequencing amusing. They went from moderately condemning Ed for disparaging a coin tosser to mocking:
- a lady for eating a pie with a fork at the footy
- a kid for putting tomato sauce on his doughnut
- a girl for dipping her chicken in coke
They'd better hope none of those unwitting members of the public had a disability! Complete hypocrisy.
There is so much of this kind of ridicule that goes on and it's rarely, if ever, called out (street talk and most anything to do with The Footy Show being the exception). But if Ed does it you can be sure a story will be made of it.
And Ed's comments were on the very mild end of the spectrum. There was no mocking of the person, no zooming in on her and laughing (as there was in the above), simply pointing out that she tossed a coin poorly.
The reaction by the media has been appalling all round, mostly falling into 1) pathetic point scoring against Ed. 2) weak tutting so as not to become a target themselves. It's this kind of overblown outrage that is corrosive to our society. Blow up over something so minor and you'll get more and more anti PC push back on actual matters of importance.

Exactly mate! I was watching the Sunday footy show on 7, and immediately after (rightly) condemning the sexism and abuse towards Tayla Harris, they start joking about a footballer (forget his name) and his topless photos, with the female panelist giggling, the guys making jokes ("she went through 400 photos to find these ones"), etc. It was ridiculously hypocritical. Condemning sexism one minute, committing it the next. But it's alright for women? |

It’s probbbaly been said but I’ll say it again. The media love to bash Collingwood any chance they get, what’s disappointing is Eddie falling for their trap of making it a circus.
